bomber ranges

Post by randybenson »

What is start range of a level bomber. It goes up 1 each tech level? Which planes have longest recon range. Do you have to fly recon as mission or can you see around all the time with a certain range of the airgroup?

1. It starts at range of 10 hexes in standard game.
2. It's range does increase with tech. Sorry I can't remember if it's one for each level though.[:(]
3. You do have to fly a recon misssion to see outside of the target hex.

I think it's 10, +1 for every upgrade level. If you group different tech levels to gether, you get the lowest common denominator, i.e. the shortest range of the whole group gets applied to the group. I usually have to reorganize my airgroups if I'm upgrading tech. That way like units can fully utilize the extent of their capabilities.

That recon thing is no fun because often times, the range of the hex is too far to both recon and bomb and the next turn your recon resets. I've found that coastal locations can be reconnoitered by naval units, (even subs) and spare your air fleets that task. Also, I've used low plane count fleets as recon and save the really big fleets for the hurting, stacked together it works pretty well.

Not sure about the ranges but it would make sense for the LB's to have the max range.

History began July 4th, 1776. Anything before that was a mistake.
