Display Bombardment Range

Post by kenwolfe »

In the Change History for TOAW III v3.1.0.9 item 8, it says:

"...On the main map, all non-air,
ranged units should display the radius of their maximum range in one of three colors. In order of
visibility, they are:
White = Unit currently selected.
Black = A unit that is set to attack/bombard, or is in any support deployment mode (D, E,
F, L, or T), or has no remaining Movement Points (MP’s).
Red = A unit that has MP’s remaining, is not set to attack, and is not in any support
deployment mode..."

I have found that units in deployment mode D, E or F show up in red. Only units in deployment mode L or T show up in black. I am running V3.2.29.27. The units in question are not set to attack/bombard and have MPs remaining. When I change a unit's deployment from D/E/F to L/T the DBR radius changes from red to black. Is this working as designed? Thanks.

You seem to have it right. (Also, units not set to any support mode are also shown as red). There must have been some sort of state of flux when the What's New was written, or there was some subsequent revision.

Thanks for the response. But I'm not clear on why the distinction is made. My understanding is that artillery units in D, E, or F can provide support to remote units in their range, just like units in L or T deployment can. Their showing up in red seems to imply that they are not eligible for support. Am I missing something? Thanks.
