RE: Someday I'll have this done.
So do I understand this correctly, when you have it done, you will be able to add this to available vehicles to use in place of a "generic" model? And it could be distributed to folks in a mod so others could use it?
Thanks,
Rick
Thanks,

Nice work Steve as always! I look forward to playing with it in the game. You should post this on the general forum as well.

Thanks guys, Should be done in about 4 days unless I have any 'do overs'.

Wahuuu Steve, that look great. I'm looking forward to test it out. May I add a link to this thread in the MOD overview post? (Will update it as you move on [;)])

Very nice Mobius ...
How many hours did it take to get to this point?
I can't imagine messing with the models ... just yet.
Thanks ,
Rob

KV-2 Not One but TWO!
The brothers KV-2.
The early prototype models apparently did fight.
Still work to do to finish them up.

Perfect also for a scenario based on ASL's "Blocking action at Lipki".

RE: KV-2 Not One but TWO!
I'm trying to come up with a name for the early prototype.
"Prototype' doesn't sound right. Zaloga calls the standard later model as the Model 1941 so maybe I should name it "Model 1940" even though it wasn't a standard model.

Model 1940 sounds fine to me, or perhaps you should have Model 1941a and Model 1941b?

RE: KV-2 Not One but TWO!
According to this blurb from Wikipedia, perhaps the early one should be the KV-2, and the later one the KV-2B.
[*]KV-2 (334) – A heavy assault tank with the M-10 152 mm howitzer, the KV-2 was produced at the same time as the KV-1. Due to the size of its heavy turret and gun, the KV-2 was slower and had a much higher profile than the KV-1. The extra weight also increased the breakdown rate of the vehicle and production was soon halted. The original KV-2 was built on the chassis of the KV-1, while the improved KV-2B was built on that of the KV-1 M1940. [/i]

Their picture of the KV-2 looks like your "early" model (I'm assuming the one on the right), although they also say it's a "prototype".

RE: KV-2 Not One but TWO!
They had at least 7 prototypes before they settled on the 'Lowered turret" at the end of 1940. I actually had named them model 1939 and model 1940. Then changed it to "KV-2" and "KV-2 early" until yesterday I checked Russian tank book by Zaloga where it was listed as the KV-2 Model 1941. So I had to rename the meshes and recompiile each model each time I change names.

The Osprey's New Vanguard "KV-1&2" mentions a KV-2 Model 1939 (the prototype, some Russian sources indicate that only four were built) and a KV-2 Model 1940 (the standard production version).

RE: KV-2 Not One but TWO!
You are probably right about that. I have a Polish book with English captions but it looks like the first 4 ptototypes U-0 to U-3 had the tall turret. The U-7 had the lowered type. No U-4 to U-6.ORIGINAL: JMass

But then this photo from the book may indicate there were some production models that had the tall turret since they don't identify this being a "U" prototype.
