what is plan.png image used for

Post by rickier65 »

In the media/maps directorys there is a file plan.png. it looks like an oblique view of the terrain, with no objects on it. (no trees, bldgs, etc.). It Looks like it might fit over the wire.png image. What is it used for?

If I'm not changing the topography at all, just edting textures and objects - i.e changing where roads are and adding/deleting moving structures and trees, do I need to do anything to the plan.png?

Is it used in the editor?

I know I"ll need to edit the minimap to match my edits to the textures and AI map, but wondered about the plan map as well?

Thanks!

Rick,

Plan and wire png are used in the scenario editor to give the scenario designer a rough overview of the 3D terrain. They are not essential (if they are not there the editor will skip them). Put them in (they are just a SS from the scenedit program) if you want scenario designers to see you lovely map in the editor.

Ah - those are the images you see when you hit button 7 in the editor! (# 3D map toggle button).

Thanks!
