Forced March - a small battle

Post by Redleg »

Kam99's fine smaller infantry fight gave me all I wanted and a bit more when I elected to play it from the Soviet side. I thought it would be a cakewalk given my superior sized force. But even though I was able to occupy some good defensive positions and wait for the AI to move into range, it was much more difficult than I thought. I managed to get off with a Minor Defeat.

I decided to play it again from the German. My single platoon forced-marched in order to find good positions. I messed the position of one German squad which eventually was finished off by a determined AI. However, my German platoon was able to obtain a Decisive Victory. But it didn't feel like I was going to win for a good number of turns.

I was very impressed with the AIs ability to run forward and occupy some buildings and use these as a base of fire in much the same way that I did in my early fight. Also, the AI was able to find a depression in the ground for refuge as it advanced that I totally missed during my opportunity.

Thanks Kam99. I will be playing this battle yet again..... soon.
