Game is squirrely...

Post by Xikar »

So far I have noticed some wierd things in the game... for example- you can't assign certain unit types to certain corps (I have 1 gaurd corp hanging in cyberspace that I can't assign to ANYTHING in reinforcement phase).. and speaking of that... my guard unit, soult, VAPORIZED for some reason I have yet to figure out. Soult disappeared OFF the map along with his 3 army factors of gaurd units... and for some reason I can't replace him on the map for several months yet, but regardless, his gaurd units are GONE.. what's up with that?

So far I do like the game but too much of it is "this before that and during this phase but only under these conditions and not unless venus is in it's azimuth over looking the fourth moon of jupiter", etc etc.

Xikar,

There are a couple of possibilities.  One is you need to buld some guard factors.  Have you tried that?
Another is that it may have starved to death in the supply phase.  I've had that happen to me before, its not fun when you realize it after the fact.

I think its described somewhere, dont remember if in tutorial or just in forum, how you can turn reinforcements (cav/guards) into plain inf factors(when you dont have any of the req corps"space" within reinforce-range).

Actually, there WAS gaurd factors with Soult, that was my point.. 3 gaurd factors. THey were in supply..... I have a hard time believing that they would have starved to death. I guess that IS possible. Unlikely though. Historically nearly improbably as french imperial guard rarely suffered attrition but that's beside the point.

I guess it's just another feature of the game I will have to get use to.

Xikar,

The game doesn't know, or care, what happened historically.  Which can be a hard thing to overcome sometimes.

Being in supply is not the same as being supplied.  If you do not have enough money, and do not go to the effort to supply those corps you want supplied individually, it appears the program will supply as many corps as it can, and the remaining corps will forage.

It can be very annpying at times...

Actually I already addressed the historical relevance when I said "that's beside the point". It's a non issue.

I thought it a bit strange that that my units which were supplied lost all 3 gaurd factors. Whammo. Poof.

From other bugs i've read about, though, i'm sure there will be many oddities to come to get use to.

Xikar,

You say the guard corps has "hanging in cyberspace" and then you say you had a guard unit with Soult and 3 guard factors.
I dont understand what you meant. Were the 3 guard factors in the guard corps or where the 3 guard factors arriving as reinforcements that you were to place on the maå?
If in the corps - didnt the log tell you if the corpse foraged and if so how it rolled?
Had the guard corps moved or not? Where from and where to?
Was it during winter?

You are simply not giving enough details to let anyone figure out what happened - this makes your complaint / bug report impossible to use constructively. Please keep in mind to give ALL relevant details when you post about a problem - otherwise you end up frustrated because noone is able to figure out what the heck you are trying to say.

Forage was not necessary as the unit was in supply and, for that matter, ADJACENT to a territory with a depot. It was not winter. The leader counter disappeared as well as the three guard factors under him.

I'm hopeing to find more positive points to this game soon or it's going to the great uninstall heaven in the sky. I'm finding too many funny things happen in favor of the AI's, for the most part.

If you had a file to attach, we might figure this out. It seems so far noone else has encountered the same problem, so it could help to fix the game.

Xikar,

Can you attach the log file? Most likely, they probably foraged to death. Did you have enough money to cover supply?
