Struggling with Bootcamp

Post by DasTactic »

I'm struggling with tackling the two Russian tanks in the fourth scenario of the Bootcamp campaign and I hope someone can give me some pointers.

At the start of the scenario I set all my platoons to Defend->Hold->Close Assault and leave them inside the buildings.

The two tanks cross the bridge and then spot one of the hidden platoons of riflemen from the opposite side of the road. They wipe that platoon out and then trundle up and secure a victory. I've tried unmounting the squads and rushing the tanks but nothing seems to work.

I dunno, myself.

The first time around, I moved a couple squads to different buildings during setup. I had the same hold fire command on that you did but the tanks came in column right up past the houses.

Sure, the first tank spotted me at the same time I started assaulting from the house w/ one squad, but he wasn't spotted near as far as yours.

What worked for me was to use area fire from the farthest Infantry. This will force the tanks to button up and then come in advance enough to close assault from rear.

You cant target the tanks directly, but you can use area fire. I also try to not expose my inf. until i can assault from side or rear.

Thanks for the replies - it worked.

The tanks didn't button up but by placing more men behind the tanks at the start and giving the tanks a protected target allowed the infantry to advance then assault them from behind.

Glad it worked - I guess thats why it's called "boot camp".
