Old Wounds - MOVED

Post by Charbroiled »

On another forum I visit (I apologize for my infidelity) the topic came up about whether Roosevelt knew about PH but let it happen to bring the US into the war. I know this is an old topic on this forum and has been hashed and rehashed numerous times. My intent is not to rehash this topic, but I was hoping to get some opinions on a link that was thrown at me:

http://www.geocities.com/Pentagon/6315/pearl.html

Is anyone familiar with the author? I've already seen a number of holes in his arguements, but what are the most blatant?

EDIT: SORRY, meant to post this in the main WITP forum. Please don't answer here and I will move it.

Others will have more knowledge of this than I will, but one thing never made sense to me about this conspiracy theory... Why would anyone lure an enemy into a war by allowing him to destroy the lion's share of your own combat power? In late '41, battleships were seen as quite valuable. Trying to lose them all on the first day of the war seems suicidal, not Machiavellan.
