CHS A6M7/8?

Post by Yamato hugger »

Im nearing the end of Oct 43 and the A6M7 is only 6 months away. I look through a handful of Jap fighter squadrons and to my surprise, none have this air type in their path (PDUs on of course). The A6M8 seems to be only carrier capable (like the M3 - not the M3a) but I could be wrong on this (Im old, memory - 2nd thing to go). No A6M7s in the units to arrive list either.

What am I missing? I want them armored cockpits!

Any navy fighter unit should be able to upgrade to A6M8 if you have PDU turned on. Maybe I'm missing something obvious in your question. [&:]

OK, as of 10/26/43 I looked through every navy fighter group I have. Only my 200 series daitai can convert to the A6M8 (I have 5 or 6 of these groups), all others limited to A6M5 and below (except that odd-ball one available very late in the war). None can convert to A6M7.

Once you upgrade one unit to A6M7, then all navy fighter units will have it as an option.

OK, but what unit upgrades to it? I havent found one that has it as an option. Im sure there is a trigger simular to the 7BG (I think) to "turn on" the LB-30. But which group is it?

Edit: I found 10 groups in the units to arrive schedule that use the A6M7 (dont know how I missed them before). 2 of these groups are due in about the time the M7 comes on line in Apr 44 (both are 48 plane groups) and the other 8 are more than a year out (I would estimate by the arival date it to be somewhere around Jan 45). Are you saying once I get these I can convert all my other navy fighter squadrons?

As far as I know, yes. As soon as you get one unit that can switch to M7, and you then switch it, all other Navy ftr units should give you option to upgrade to M7.

If I'm wrong I'm sure someone will correct me. [:D]

Which version of CHS? or are you in stock? The A6M7 is a fighterbomber and there are many reinforcements. They are not Fighters and so there is no path to them from fighters.
