It should only switch the view if the unit about to be destroyed is out of your field of view entirely. So if you play zoomed in, you'll see a fair number of kill cam view switches, if you play zoomed out, few or none.

I turned it off too. I watch the part of the battle I'm interested in. If I Want to see other parts of the battlefield I just click on the event I'm interested in on the events screen.

I leave it on but like you Mad Russian, I use the events to quickly go to a location of import.
