Games specs

Post by Chris21wen »

I know this might be somewhere else in the forum but what's the recommended specs required for the game and AE if its different.

The reason i saked is I'm thinking of buying a laptop but it has to be able to run the game without difficulty.

Sorry I should aslo have said under Vista if that makes a difference.

I'm planning to run it on a high-end MacBook Pro using Boot Camp.

depends somewhat on memory, but on average any new laptop/desktop on sale today should run the game just fine.
It doesn't make any sense, Admiral. Were we better than the Japanese or just luckier?

AE is probably going to be a lot more memory intensive (for one thing, there are a lot more hexes, a lot more unit slots, etc.) - so go for memory if you can.

For the original WitP:

Windows 98\ME\2000\XP
600Mhz Pentium III
128 MB RAM
8 MB graphics card
DirectX 8.0 compatible sound card
DirectX version 8.0
600 MB disk space
8x CD ROM
keyboard and mouse

I don't think the minimum specification for the expansion has been announced but with more ships and more map hexes I would expect it to go up.

From the WitP AE page:

Windows 98SE / ME / 2000 / XP
CPU: 2.0 Ghz minimum, 3.0 Ghz recommended
Video/Graphics: 128M minimum, 256M recommended
RAM: 512MB minimum, 1GB recommended
1 GB free Hard Disc space
DirectX version: 9.0 or later
Direct X compatible Soundcard
8x CD-ROM

So it will take a bit more computer to run it and probably a considerable upgrade to get really fast turns.
