Navigation Radar Device slot query

Devices 227 to 229 are assigned as type 8 - a null type - and they are all called nav radar/oboe (a navigation device).

It is alleged these devices to not work (though they could if code simply needed them to be present).

Can other types of devices be assigned to these slots?

What kinds?

Aircraft radars?

Aircraft devices in general?

ASW, bombs, torpedoes, guns, surface radars, etc?

Do we know?

I would think you could put any non-naval device in there, but I haven't tried it myself, so I'm not sure.
