Have you gotten your replica watch today?

Post by panzers »

Am I missing something or is everyone supposed to have a replica watch?
Who is sending me this garbage everyday in my bulk mail to buy a replica watch? Who is paying for that advertisement and who in their right mind would ever even think of opening that?
How about this one: Hot hs lady head show, and that one is in my inbox no less.
You gotta love the internet.

You'd be surprised how many thick people live in this world...and I'm not talking about the people that open the mail....I'm talking about the half wits that buy the crap and therefore make spam lucrative. [8|]

Yup, and there I was thinking the BORG would take over the universe. Seems more like it the SPAMMERS take over the world. [:@]

And why do they seem to think that I would buy prescription drugs from a Mexican/Canadian pharmacy over the internet?   Unless my wife is trying to tell me something [X(]

actually, living im Detroit, it was the thing to do was buy cheap canadian dollar drugs, but not by the internet, but by just making a quick jog to windsor ontario, and of course, if you go to canada, it goes without saying that it is a requirement you buy a case of their beer considering everything we drink here is alcoholess piss water. Then something wierd happened one day. Our economy got so bad that the canadoan dollar suddenly became better than ours. What does that tell you about the deteriation and long descent right into 3rd world status this country is headed to.

Does anyone else have a couple of email addresses, and they receive very specific types of spam? My Gmail is inundated with replica watch and Viagra offers, while my yahoo mail account gets pummeled by royals and rich types from Burkina Faso who just can't WAIT to flood me with their money.

See, we get no respect. But at least our hockey team is kicking ass.
And don't base everything on our mayor. Btw, I should reiterate that I am in a suburb of Detroit. Not proud of my neighboring city at all, but it's home.
P.s. Don't want to get into any details but my father was a very high executive at chrysler corporation and he did something with that company that was unprecedented. After he retired, about 10 years later they took away all prescription drug from him and about 90% of his health insurance and with today being June first, he is officially out of his $94,000 life insurance policy because they stripped it from all white collar retirees. Of course the blue collar and union people still have their full health and life benefits while my father and all the people that made chrysler what it is today are all sht out of luck.
My father who was a very respected buisness man is gonna die a pauper because he had all his benefits stripped from him. What a frickin' joke.

Welcome to the American Healthcare System and our Social Security for the Elderly. He is lucky he could afford any insurance at all. A large part of the elderly can't afford ANY prescriptions and thus go without.

The replica watch thing highlights another problem with modern trade and modern deregulation - the "Chinese Knockoff." Living in NYC, you don't just get SPAM trying to sell you replica watches (or purses, or sunglasses) you get actual PEOPLE "spamming" you on the street or subways to buy knockoff DVDs, watches, etc. They come in through Chinatown and are made in China from the original blueprints in second-rate factories (which might be down the street from the real licensed factory) and usually with second rate parts.

My brother-in-law went to Hong Kong recently and went into one of these "knock off" selling hubs. You can get Rolex watches that are nearly IDENTICAL to real Rolex (in look) for less than $50 USD. The parts are inferior (as are all Chinese parts) and the watch will break down more - but I have had people take these things to official Rolex stores for repair, and it wasn't until they opened the watch up before the story refused to work on it.

So some of the replica watch things are not "scams" like the Nigerian Fraud spam (aka, You won the Lottery, I need help, etc.). Those prescription mails are DANGEROUS as they will sell replica pharmaceuticals that contain toxic elements (like lead paint to "color" the drug correctly).
You'd be surprised how many thick people live in this world...and I'm not talking about the people that open the mail....I'm talking about the half wits that buy the crap and therefore make spam lucrative.

It isn't stupid people, half-wits, or "thick" people who fall for them - it is desperate people - with no money, no prospects, in need of medication they want but can't afford. They know it is fake, but they HOPE that this time will be different and they have no other way to go. This is the price we pay for the prices we pay for things - and with a depressed economy these things just intensify.

You have a lot of nerve claiming that white-collar folks are what made chrysler what it is today, while deriding blue-collar workers.
And in any case, American car companies, including and perhaps especially Chrysler, have been producing crap for decades. So, according to your own decription, your father was one of the people directly resposible for that.
Corporate executives have been pulling outrageously high salaries for the same period of time, while blue-collar wages have steadily declined, in real buying-power terms.

So, do tell, if your old man was such a genius, what did he do with all the money he earned as an executive? Did he buy you a new car for your high school graduation? Another one for your college graduation? How much did he spend on your sister's wedding?
Nevermind, those are all rhetorical questions, in case that point is lost on you.

You obviously didn't realize the arrogance of your statement. Maybe now you do.

Edit: See my sig line for a couple of examples of which the likes of your unprecedented father are responsible for.

BoredStiff and Sarge,

I think you misunderstood his statement and he phrased it poorly. But you do have to admit that the Blue Collar worker has the protection of the unions to keep them from getting too much of the shaft. White Collar workers often do not have that same protection.

And it is just as offensive to assert that Chrysler "makes crap." This is purely opinion, and many of Chrysler's cars are fine cars. It is also offensive to assume, because his father was successful in business, that he must have "squandered" his money on excessive cars and spending. If he expected to have company benefits past retirement, and these were taken from him, then how could he have planned ahead for that? Health care is unbelievably expensive for the elderly - hundreds of dollars for one month's medication. This can tap the funds of most any person. Also, you don't know his state of health - some illness, like cancers, can drain finances with their treatment. I find your attacks on his father meanspirited and without cause.

Lets face it - to use a ship analogy - blue collar workers are the sailors and white collar workers are captains. You can't sail a ship without either - the captain/white collar worker charts the course, makes the plans, comes up with the tactics, while the sailors/blue collar workers man the cannon, row the rows, bring up the sails, and sometimes swab the deck. Just because the sailors work harder (often for less pay) does not make them more or less important. But the same holds true for the captain.

Sorry to hear about your Dads bad fortune. I can't judge as has been done above but I thought making of a company was a team effort.

I want to give Detroit respect but can't they make a little better automobile? The cars have improved greatly. But, to compare Detoit cars to the Japanese cars, there is still rooom for improvement
Not all cars from Detoit can be classified as "crap". When it comes to reliability and low matinance. I believe Buick has been at the top of the list for at least six years.

Have been to Michigan several times, nice state. Diamond Lake brings back good memories.

And not that you are entitled to what my life was growing up, we didn't necessarily have a rich childhood. You need to keep your comments to yourself.
This is a public forum and no one asked for your half ased opinion. If you continue to conduct yourself like this, I will have you barred from this forum.
The personal attacks are not appreciated. I know what my father did and that is between myself and my father and I don't have to tell you or anyone what he was able to accomplish, but I can assure you, it was far, far more than you're own father. I will bet you my annual salary on that.

Unfortunately, I can't take back what I said, but I reacted without reading the other posts and was so taken aback by boredstiff's attacks on me,
I just lost it. I can take a little ribbing about my hometown, but when I get an insensitive attack like that, it is very offensive and uncalled for. I want to apologize to everyone else in here for stooping to that level and also to Erik. I would appreciate it if people left this alone.
And I want to thank son of monfort for realizing that this was going out of control quickly before I got a chance to read his post.

I don't think so. If this forum gets much more sterile, there won't be much insentive to visit here; that's not your goal, is it "panzers"?
