Well I suppose it would be safe to assume that it will be released in the 21st century..and I would even take a chance and go out on a limb here and say that it will probably be out before the 100th anniversary of Pearl Harbor..but don't take my word on it though[:'(]

Well, I've done about 83 variations on the theme "Matrix does not announce release dates in advance", but that doesn't seem to work.

Constant following of all AE threads makes my best uninformed guess = greater than 90% but less than 100%.

Edited to factor in "old rules of thumb".

There is an old rule of thumb for programming projects. They reach 90% completion within a few months, then stay at 90% forever.

It's the beta testers' fault. They find too many bugs. [;)]

It doesn't make any sense, Admiral. Were we better than the Japanese or just luckier?

The original press release from Matrix on Dec. 7 said AE would be released "early summer 2008". Most people would consider June to be early summer, but it doesn't feel as if AE is close to release. This is not a criticism, just an observation.
I don't think it's out of line to ask for a revised update.....late summer, early fall, winter? [&:]

I'll be buying it regardless of when it's released. Keep up the good work![:)]

I think I speak for a lot of people when I say it will be released 'when it's done'.

I'd much rather wait a little longer for a finished, polished product than have a product released that is full of bugs. And having been on both sides of the gaming industry, that is developer/consumer, there is nothing worse for either group than to rush out an unpolished product.

"done"? Well not sure it will ever be "totally done" ... but we do want it to be playable right out of the box ... which is harder than it sounds ... but right now I'd say we are done, except for the AI.

We wrestle with the AI trying to get it to do what we want it to do. Somedays we are the windshield - somedays we are the bug. Once we get the AI to where it mostly does what we want most of the time, then we will be "done" enough - I think - but no idea when that will be at this point.

Same here, Shark7.

We're not guaranteeing a bug-free release (that would be preposterous), but we're guaranteeing that the development and beta-testing teams will do as much as we can to stamp the bugs out prior to release, and will remain committed to patching afterwards.

Nobody wants to drop the ball now, when we've been going for so long.
