Hey devs,

The current WitP patch is 1.806. So does this extension push vanila Witp to a differnent or higher patch number or is it strictly an extension without Witp bug fixes?

Is it a stand alone extention that could be used with Witp v1.0 ?

Thanky!

It will have it's own version, AE is an expansion and will have nothing to do with any witp current install.
It doesn't make any sense, Admiral. Were we better than the Japanese or just luckier?

How can that be?   We (think we)understand that
AE will need Witp to be installed / present / somewhere in the universe.
....nothing to do with any witp current install doesn't make sense. [&:] Sounds like a total stand alone game.
Does it do a directory check of your hard drive to see if you've bought Witp and then proceed with install only if you have?
Hmmmmm?

I think he's refering to the version # that you have for WITP.  AE is not (imo) patch 1.9 (or whatever) but a seperate add on extension to WITP.

Therefore you could run AE with version 1.0 of Witp if you wanted to or dared to.

You mean this?
AE is an expansion and will have nothing to do with any witp current install

Then your short reply to rhohltjr doesn't make sense and rjohltjr is correct.

Prior posts have mentioned that the AE expansion will be an add on to WITP with its' latest (most recent) patch... It would therefore not work well on vanilla (un-patched) WITP as it had bugs you would not believe, (unless you had been there).

AE is not an add-on; that implies it installs on top of stock WitP 1.806, which it doesn't.

I admit it, I am now confused.

All along it has been implied that you needed WITP to play WITP-AE.

If this in fact is not the case, and as it appears in Terminus's post it isn't.

And the mob goes wild...

If it has a different executable (which it naturally does), a different map, a different database and different scenarios (on a different map), why would you even need WitP? Seems like it should be stand-alone, with a discount for people owing WitP. There certainly shouldn't be any reason to keep TWO unrelated installs on the same PC if you only intend to play AE.

Think of it as a brand new game. You can run TOAW without Witp and you will be able to run AE without Witp

From the annoucement for WITP-AE.

The Admiral’s Edition expansion will require ownership of the original War in the Pacific game.
In the big picture this is a non-issue.

But I can see why people would be confused by the original annoucement and today's clearing the air by Terminus.

........and why the majority of us thought it to be an optional "add-on", like an ASL "add-on"...

I have told the AE team to desist from trying to interpret Matrix' words regarding the relationship of WITP and AE. The decisions are in Matrix' court, not the AE Team. We are building the game they decide how to market and package it.

Matrix may already have a plan here or they may wait and decide later - but feel free to read their words in the official press releases and intepret for yourself. We know no more than you guys about the meaning of these words.
