Great Invasions

Post by JWW »

Has anyone played it? AGEOD distributes it but is not the developer, and you can find it other places. How is it? I love the time period and am interested in the game but have not bought it primarily because I read some negative reports about it a year or two ago. I see it has really been patched up. So is anyone playing the most updated versions?

And is Matrix Games interested in this one?

Yes, you may see this one show up here in the reasonably near future.

And if it does, you would have at least one buyer.  [:)]

They are, sort of. It was designed by Philippe Thibaut who subsequently formed AGEOD so it's really as much one of 'their' games now as BoA, AACW and Nappy.

It's an interesting game, although with some very odd design features that you will either love or hate, not least that you are controlling several nations at once. Assuming Matrix price it sensibly it's certainly worth forking out on to give it a try, particularly if you are an EU2/3 or Crusader Kings fan.

Why wait for Matrix to publish it?

You can buy it from the publisher at a reasonable price, and it has no copy protection, or other DRM.

I am playing GI 1.07c, it is far better than the original one. I like GI because it has tons of historical events. You are controlling several nations at once but it is possible play just one faction by editing scenario files (I like play just the two Roman Empires or the Byzantines) or (more simple) letting the others into the AI hands. I have just released a graphical mod to have a cleaner look, see at Ageod forum. [;)]
