Cursor stays hourglass

Post by LarryP »

This only happens in Full Screen mode, NOT Windowed:

After going into the Load Game menu, the cursor always stays an Hourglass inside this menu until I go out to the loaded game. However, today when I left the Load Game menu and went back to the Main Menu via the "X" at the top right, my cursor stayed an Hourglass. I had to exit the game and go back into it to reset the cursor. When I go into the Load Game menu, the top saved game is already highlighted in green as if it was chosen already. Then I notice my hard drive light blinks off and on as the file is hooked. If I do nothing other than exit, then the cursor stays an Hourglass no matter what.

This is a bit later:
After saving a new game and leaving the Save Menu, the cursor stays an Hourglass. I went to several menus and it would not change back to the pointer. I ended up having to exit the game as the cursor never went back to the pointer.

Even later:
OK, I have been trying to nail down exactly what causes this and I have it now. If I select a saved file and do nothing with it, then go back to the game, that's when the Hourglass cursor stays and my hard drive light keeps blinking. It's like after I clicked the file, the program would not let go of the file until I either saved over it or deleted it or exited the game entirely. [&:]

Not sure if this well help, but could you post a dxdiag report for your system. I wonder if anyone else is seeing this behavior. It vaguely sounds familiar, and possibly a tester had this problem recently. I'll post in the tester forum and see if it's ever come up before.

Good catch, I was able to duplicate it in full screen mode. It's definitely annoying. I'll add it to our list.

Oh good, I wonder when it can't be duped. However I wish it was on my end and not yours. [;)] Thanks for being kind about it.

This problem is still there. I go to the "Load Game" menu and exit that without choosing a saved game and my cursor stays an hourglass. This is with the new patch too.

I've got it too. I'm guessing it's everybody.

A quick workaround is to go back and load something, or pick 'new save' and save something.

Yeah I do that too, but I was just posting that this did not get fixed yet. I just had an online friend try it and he gets no hourglass. I wonder what is causing this?! [&:]

I also have an hourglass when I first come into the game, until I move the mouse the first time and then it goes to a pointer. [&:]
