Command points question

Post by Crimguy »

Do command points affect movement? Eg, if you have 7/7 points, then attach 7 infantry units, you won't be able to move, correct?

Next turn, you'll still have 0/7 points? Will you have reduced movement at that time than, e.g. if you had only attached 3 infantry units (4/7)?

I'm not entirely sure myself. I think I've learned this much: if you use command points to attach units, then the attached units cannot benefit from your infantry/cavalry movement bonus, which means you won't be able to move very far at all. But the next turn, you will get the movement bonus so long as you don't attach any new units, even if you've used all your command points by maintaining the attached units. I think.

Command points do not affect movement. However, if you attach units to a leader during a turn before you move him, his movement will be reduced to 1 as he's dealing with reorganization and the new forces you're sending is way. A leader with initiative gives his stack the full movement bonus, as long as he's just moving with the troops he started the turn with.

Thanks. OK next related question: Does the size of the container have an effect on movement? It appears from the manual that it doesn't. . . the slowest attached unit dictates movement IIRC.

Hm - there's no "container" as such in WBTS except for the leaders (unlike in FOF which has divisions, corps, armies as containers which leaders and units are attached to). So if you mean does a leader with a high command total and lots of units directly attached move slower than one with only a few, the answer is no. The leader's command points determine what he can manaage. What matters is the leader's applicable sklll as far as movement bonus and whether the leader has initiative to pass that on to his units.
