Movement of a single unit

I am trying to move, let's say, 3 of my 8 militia to a neighbouring region. Every time I want to send one, all the others (all 8) go with it.
I haven't figured it out yet how to send single units without leader somewhere.

Are you holding down the Shift key?

Ah, now. The stack selection was on. If I hold shift as well, stack selection is on without the tab selected on the right.
