Video Card Problem

Post by Charbroiled »

I'm running Vista with a Nvidia GeForce 7600GT video card.

I was "tinkering" with the game last week with FOG on and graphic set to high. During the game, my monitor would blink to "black" for about 2 seconds, then would blink back to the game and I would have a measage on my taskbar that said something to the effect of: "Video card stopped working, but has recovered". This would happen only once per session.

Yesterday, I was doing some more "tinkering" with FOG off and the I started to get the video card failure multiple times with about 5-10 seconds between failure. After about the 6th or 7th failure, my computer rebooted.

At the moment, I'm looking for the obvious fix to my problem (if there is one). I can provide a DxDiag if needed, but I'm not at the machine in question at the moment and won't be able to provide one until Monday.

I run other "High graphic" games (Oblivion) on this machine without any problems, so I don't think it is my video card.....but it may be.

I'm going to set the graphic level in "Preferences" back to low and see if that helps. My thoughts are that the increased number of units with FOG off may have put too much of a load on my video card, but this is just a guess.

Any thoughts?
