Anybody else build kamakazi titans? I've found that if I can get an assault to overheat and explode in the middle of a group, the results can be pretty interesting...It may be the only thing that will work against a swarm...
When in doubt, roll in a grenade and come in firing...

Blowing my own titan on purpose???

HUmthe closest thin I can relate is my knight design, who's job was to charge and make explode the lightest ennemy mach in the mobs... I know that that is the job of every AT, but the knight was designed to survive the explosion <img src="tongue.gif" border="0">


Also kamikazing an Assault seems a bit of an overkill. Not to mentionthe pain in the ass to get it in middle of the foes and far from yours other AT.

"IF" is a very big if, and you'd need to get close enough without being blown up along the way. In order to attain that quick blow up, you'd need a really bad heat reg, and 5 TBs. You'd have to jack up your heat to just below 150, and then fire all 5 TBs. Dangerous, but it could work.

You also need to not have a dcs and your pilot must suck at damage control... explosions have an automatic roll, something between 50~98%.

Engines automatically explodes at 300 heat. The DCS and damage control skill only kick in if the engine is shot out.

Well, got bored so I made the titan and tested it out. It's okay, but it does more damage from alpha-striking than from the engine exploding. <img src="frown.gif" border="0">

Well, the manual reads:
300+ C : *Possible* titan explosion...

Hmm, and how can I do that? I don't know the code for those situations. You can't tell if the titan is exploding cause it does at 300 C or because you failed a roll. Or if the roll is made every 5 or 10 secs. Don't know if you are aware, but when a titan explodes a jock *can* survive, though it is extremely rare. It's probably one of those 2% chances. What exactly tells you that this is not one of those situations?! If the manual states *possible*, I'll go with the manual until Larkin says otherwise. The manual has had mistakes in the past, and it probably still has. But only the code can tell.

At 300C an engine explosion is 100% possible <img src="wink.gif" border="0">

Ok then, maybe the manual should be changed. Along with Bernd's suggestions. Will work on it right away.

*chuckle* If you tried it for yourself, you would have seen that the engine explodes exactly after you end your turn above 300 heat. <img src="smile.gif" border="0">

As I said, how can you be 100% sure? Have you tried 100 times? Larkin has this habit of always having a 2% chance of *anything* happening/not happening, I've seen this in practically *everything* in the game, that's why I wouldn't go for the immediate explosion.
