Playing maps on older ToS versions

Post by Peter Yearsley »

I would like to play some of the available pre-defined maps, and to play some of my own. I know that version 1.4 doesn't support playing on set maps. Which of the earlier versions does, and how can I get hold of it?

ToS v1.3b should be the one. No idea where to get from if you can't get access to my HD <img src="wink.gif" border="0">

Thanks for the answer.
I should have backed up the older version before allowing 1.4 to overwrite it. Do you have access to FreeDrive? (It's a free storage site for large files.)

That's great; thank you very much, Larkin. I had been working on a couple of my own maps when I saw the earlier note about 1.4 not being able to use them. More disappointing than frustrating, but it'll be good to see how they go.

Browse the download folder and fetch tosv12.exe as well as tos13b.zip

I can't guarantee success with maps though.

Damned, think I uploaded a wrong file. Get tosinst12.exe instead of tosv12.exe, the update to v1.3b stays the same. Just uploading the new one now .....

That's good. I was about to tell you that it hadn't worked.

Larkin, tosint12.exe seems to be the same file as the current tosint.exe. ... and when I upgraded with 13b, the "load map from file" line wouldn't highlight when the cursor passed over it.
Shall we give up on this? I plead incompetence; it's almost certainly my mistake.

My apologies: I was wrong about the file comparison. That was due to me mis-using Norton's File Compare. But the rest is true. Oh well. Will we be able to map in WS?

Sorry, I tried my best. But I do not have the time to help more. I'm pretty confident that WS will not only have a map editor but a great mission editor. Not sure if it will it into the initial release but you will get one.
