WW2: Road to Victory is the first grand strategy release from IQ Software/Wastelands Interactive, which covers World War II in Europe and the Mediterranean. Hex-based and Turn-based, it allows you to choose any combination of Axis, Allied, Neutral, Major or Minor countries to play and gives you full control over production, diplomacy, land, air and naval strategy. Start your campaign in 1939, 1940 or 1941 and see if you can better the results of your historical counterparts. A series of historical events and choices add flavor and strategic options for great replayability.

OK I have declared war on Norway and dropped an Airborne unit on Oslo. I end the turn and when it is my turn again my Airborne unit is gone! I even ran a convoy there in case that is why. Can someone please tell me what I am doing wrong?

Thanks

There was a similar bug reported-- check out the "where has my para unit gone" thread in the tech support forum.  Sounds like a fix is in the works.

Thanks I just read it. It is because there is a unit there I guess. And everytime I try an amphib invasion, the german fleet gets creamed.

I can't see me buying this game the way that it is now. It really wasn't ready for release. It does hold some promise if they can get things worked out! Right now there are too many holes....

Minor bugs! I cannot get the game to work without crashing on a one-month-old, top of the line Dell.  If it is not Vista compliant it should NOT be sold as such (it currently says XP/Vista). Frankly, its release appears to have been grossly premature. For all that I was underwhelmed bo CEAW, it at least was stable and (in my experience) bug-free. Too, using DOSbox, I can even get CoS to function on my pc.... anger.

Serious frustration aside, I am cautiously optimistic that the developers / Matrix are working to rectify matters. BUT anyone contemplating a purchase would be well-advised to await an indication that the bugs have been worked out.

Why have I never had any problems with a game I bought, EVER, in my life since I owned a PC, over 20 years now.  Yet everyone else does.

Very strange.

It does occasionally crash for me but with frequent saving it is not a biggie for me. The game is very good.

Making computer games is a very complicated process.
Even large, rich companies selling products that are not bugs free.

We are trying to do our best to solve all the reported issues and to free the game from the bugs.
It's not easy when the problems occurs only for part of the players.

We are really sorry, that for some of the customers game is unplayable, but hopefully it will be repaired sooner than later.

True, just as an example I'll never forget the debut of Medieval 2 TW [:-]

I had just one crash after some playing hours and the savegame worked perfectly, so I complain just some behaviours of AI and the lack of some features. I think this wargame has a big potential and I hope to see the improvements it deserves.

Lucky1,

Being a game developer my first tech support question to the consumer is.....

1. Did you update your video card drivers.....

Most of the 1st and 2nd versions of video drivers usually have some bugs in them.... it is usually after the 3rd iteration of video drivers that things usually stabilize.

So are your video drivers up to date?

Unsure?

Run a DXDiag (from the Start -- > Run) and then look in the Display tab -- note the version number and version date... then go to your Video Card manufacturers site and check and see if you have the latest driver.

Also other issues that are Vista related..

1. Turn off UAC --

http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows- ... ows-vista/

2. Never install the game in the default folder of c:\program files install it somewhere else like c:\games\ww2rtv

Hope this helps

Corey

Because Vista remaps files "for your protection" in Vista that are in the default folder when you have UAC on. Which interferes with installations etc.

Plus it is easier to locate important files to backup when they are not in the default folder.

Plus most viruses target the c:\program files folder (along with the c:\windows folder).....

The last 2 points i made are regardless of OS......

Actually the best practice is always to have your OS on a different drive (physical if possible, logical if not) than your applications.... that way if your OS goes fubar... your applications are still safe.

Did you reinstall the game outside of the default directory?

Did you turn off UAC?

I didn't turn off UAC. I am not familiar with it and am reticent to mess with it without fully understanding the consequences. I would much rather the game be designed to work within the default constraints of the operating system.....
