Just discovered this game. thinking of buying

Post by Calculon »

I was a huge fan of the close combat 3 and discovered this game a year late.

I am thinking of buying the game but I have some questions about multiplayer since I can't really find any info elsewhere on the net.

Do a lot of people play BHQ multiplayer?

is it easy to find a game?

Does the game work well out of the box or do i have to patch or do little fixes to get the game working?

does everyone online use mods that have to be downloaded first?

if i buy and download the game, can i install it on 2 of my computers?

The multiplayer feature sounds really fun but I really do not want to end up disappointed realizing that there are only 0-3 online people during prime time.

I am running windows xp SP3

Thanks, I look forward to your replies!

Hi!, besides here, you can also visit the Close Combat Series web site for more info. Plenty of the questions you've asked, have already been answered there. www.closecombatseries.net

Hi Calculon,

Unfortunately there are not a lot of people visiting BHQ for CoI. It is also the same for CCMT. Not many players. Actually in about 6 weeks I have managed only 2 online games.
It is interesting to note that there always seem to be players for A Bridge too Far. Odd.

However the single play campaigns are quite enjoyable in CoI. There are also a lot of mods and campaigns available with an easy to use, built in, modswap program.

There are 2 patches you will want to install as I remember. XP SP3 will run it very well.

Yes you can install it on 2 computers.

regards John

The game runs perfectly out of the box.

There are two patches only related to MOD saved games and un update to the MMCC3 client.

It can be installed on two computers.

Mods available for download from here (hope to get Commonwealth summer up this week)  http://closecombat.matrixgames.com/CoI/coimods.html

As John said BHQ is underutilized (I picked up a game when I popped in yesterday though) but you also have the MMCC3 option where you can battle on the Strat map.

Always seems to be a couple in the CC2 room... BHQ has supported CC2 for quite a few years now.
