WiFcon for game designers

Post by panzers »

I am here in Lansing Michigan before the con and would like to know if any of you have any requests regarding pictures you may need from the convention that may assist you in any way to help you in your development of MWiF. I will be going home very night except tues, wed, and thurs and will post pictures from the games that are going on. Don't remember who it was, but I have it taken care of as far as the minor set up and the attacks. So any other requests, please let me know in any way I can help out here.
Thanks

Thanks for the offer.

Well, I would like to know about the unexpected and the obvious.[:)] So, if you stated that the opening moves for game A were obvious/commonplace and gave a screen shot of that, it would be a help to me in defining what is considered a 'typical' start to a game. And then a picture of any 'unexpected' strategies/tactics/events could be better understood, given that backdrop of normalcy.

Part of what I am looking for here is a third party perspective. I have my own accumulated experiences playing WIF, but given the wide range of playing styles and the alternative strategies WIF makes available, what I have learned can be considered merely annecdotal.

Well, it is only the first day, and we haven't really got started yet. We have only done the bidding for the options and nations so far and 4 tables are finishing up the game setups. we do have one gam ethat has started, though and it happens to have two of our members in the game. Steve Balk(sajbalk) and Chris(composer99) I have this one specifically for peskpesk, but since you work with Steve on the game development, I'm sure he might appreciate this a little also. No big deal, but gotta have something to show for day 1. Thjere is something potentially big looming, but I am not at liberty to say anything at the moment for obvious reasonsImage

Ok, I am really sorry, but I am so computer illiterate, it is embarrassing. I thou, then hitght I had it down. What I did was copy from my pictures, then clicked image from here at Matrix, and put the curser in between the brakes and clicked ok. Obviously, it didn't work. So anyone that wants to help me on this. Please feel free to do so.

I had to get that in real quick because I am not at all amused with service pack3. I keep getting booted out. Anyway. All it was, was a Italian transport up in Kiel harbor in what looks like an obvious upcoming invasion of Norway.

Good try there Panzer. Keep the reports flowing in. If you can recruit some of the other gronards to post photos for us too. (Im a little excited since its N/D 1942 and my Japanese ally has almost completed his conquest of India & China in our campaign while I fight a bloody sea battle with the Brits and Yanks in the Eastern Med. Oh the pain....the pain!) [:D]

I've almost got it. But what is an "embed picture"?

Ok, let me try to help here.

You need to have the picture in a file format that can be uploaded. Matrix Games forums only accepts two formats: JPG and GIF.

I always use JPG and I know that the limit on file size is 200 KB for regular forum members. I suspect it is the same for GIF, but I have never used that so it's just my guess.

You need to know the name of the file and the directory it is in. Yeah, that sounds obvious, but it is something I myself have trouble with from time to time.

Here are the steps I use:
1 - Click on the Reply button to this post.
2 - At the bottom of the "Reply to Message" popup there is a check box for "Embed picture in post". Check that box.
3 - Just to the left of the box you just checked is "Click here to upload!". Click on that text.
4 - A new popup box should appear. Click on browse.
5 - Navigate around your disk to the file you want to upload, then click on Open.
6 - Go back to the "Select a file to upload" popup box and make sure the name of the file you selected is right (you might not be able to read the entire name and just have to trust that it is right).
7 - Click on OK in the "Select a file to upload" popup box.
8 - Wait for the file to upload. Click on OK again when it says it is done.
9 - Back at the "Reply to message" popup, click on OK.

All it was, was a Italian transport up in Kiel harbor in what looks like an obvious upcoming invasion of Norway.

Interesting strategy, but one wonders is it:

A) To help with the German invasion of Norway.
B) A Italian invasion of Norway!
C) A longer plan to do Sea Lion.

And how well do the Italians mange in the Mediterranean with a TRS less?

Keep us informed. [:)]

I am The USA, and I also happen to be at the same table as big red. I think he knows how to do it, but, time..... We Wiffers all know about that. We do get breaks, though and We will try again tomorrow. He is the commonwealth at my table. I have some great stories for you all, but I want to have the pics for you to fully appreciate them. I am truly sorry about that for I know how important this is. BTW. We are getting the word out. Notice the hits already on this thread, and particularly:the WiFcon 2008 thread. We are really working hard on that, especially Big Red. He's got some things he is doing with Bob Rutherford, the, person responsible for WiFcon for this country.

I've received 38 JPGs from Panzers and I am waiting to see whether he wants any text to accompany them. Posting them will be a problem since almost all of them exceed my allotted 500 KB per post - but I'll work out something.

You could always use photoshop´s "save for web"-function. That way you can get the pictures any size you want.

I'll keep that in mind as a fall back position. I don't own Photoshop.
