Quick Survey for all World At War veterans!!!

Post by explorer2 »

I’m trying to discover how balanced this incredible scenario is, when humans are playing humans. Please help with your input. Duplicate of this is on main forum, please answer in only one of the two threads.

For each game you’ve played against another human(s), please answer the following:

1. Version you played?
2. Who won?
3: Date won?
4. Did it seem to you like both sides had a roughly equal chance of victory?

5. If not, why not?
6. Any suggestions for improving balance?

Thanks for your input and time. If there’s a trend indicating an imbalance, I’ll see what I can do to mod it to make it more balanced.

Summary of Responses: up to Aug 14, 2208
Victor with average time won:
Germany: 5
West: 2
Japan:
Soviets:

Mostly Balanced?

It's balanced as far as such scenario could be. Only issue I have seen, is those new ship hulls. They are too vulnerable in current version. When it comes to AI, there is no point to even think about balance with it. AI is quite bad in a huge scenarios like this.

Such scenario like waw will never be totally balanced, since different players with different skills will always unbalance one side and totally owning with other side.

There is plenty of badly balanced scenarios in scenario bank, mayby you should use your time on one of them :)

If you really have some spare time, you could fix Vorsteher's excellent Barbarossa 1939-1945 scenario. Its very good scenario with awesome units and events. But it totally lacks terrain environment bonuses. In that scenario its totally the same, where do you defend or attack, let it be clear plains or high mountains, bonuses will be the same. Obviously such thing in tactical wargame isin't a good thing.

I've played the scenerio 3 times so far and have 2 more games in process.

Of the completed games I've played the Axis once and won and the Allies twice and lost.

Of the in progress games, I am playing one as the Germans and one as the Allies. In both those games the Axis seems to be winning so far.

I made my comments in the WAW suggestions thread. Important to note that I have NOT played with the Anti-Blitz option yet, nor a house rule that says the Axis must attack in '41.

1. Played versions 30+

2-3. Ive played the Allies once and won (germany surrended in 1941). Germany once and lost (1941).

In the 2 games i have i dont have much of a clue. But if Grumpymel says he is winning then i guess i am loosing :)

4. I really cant comment on whether its balanced or not.

1. v33d
2. Allies once, Germany once.  Germany wins both times
3. October 1942 and May 1943
4. Not to me, whichever side I played.
5. Seemed to me too easy for GE to defeat Soviets, and by using their production get an insurmountable edge over West.
6. That's why I started this thread.

I have currently a game against Stikman and it shows out several issues on waw33d. Going to fix it if I got some spare time. Naval Field and upcoming Warhammer Online will drain some attention though :)
