Using ANZAC in the Brit Long Campaign

Post by KG Erwin »

Has anyone played a British LC in the Pacific? As an experiment, I started it in June 1942 but elected to choose only Aussie units. The weird thing is that I chose East Asia but the game moved forward to Nov 1943 for my first battle. So, the early battles in New Guinea (the Kokoda campaign) are skipped over. I suppose this isn't too odd, considering that the 1942 jungle battles were Aussie-only affairs.

Given that, I'm not sure if this format is gonna work for me. I suppose I COULD just do a generated campaign starting in summer of '42.

My question is this: given the British timeline, if I stay in Asia will I end up playing out the war in Burma/India? I'm not buying any tanks, so I don't want my diggers to end up placed somewhere on the Western Front.

Probably. The game's timeline is not very flexible, so as a British command it will likely focus on Burma/India instead of other areas. And it doesn't really allow for 'cross-nation' core forces; whatever the HQ nation is, that's the timeline that is followed. So your 'Diggers' will be treated as if they are regular 'Pommies'.

Check your history. US Army forces were involved in Buna, Sanananda and Gona. Started Nov 1942.
There were a few US Army forces also at Milne Bay, Sep 1942, but well, best less said about them.
