AE System Requirements

Post by hbrsvl »

Hi-I'm faced with having to get a new laptop. Are AE's system requirements the same as WITP? If not what are they?

Also, a new computer will have to be with Vista. I've noted some comments as to 32 bit v 64 bit. Soemone please clarify this for me.

What is the minimum video card? What is the desireable card?

Any other comments on requirements will be appreciated.

Thanks, Hugh Browne

I have a MacBook Pro, configured using Bootcamp to run Windows XP on a 32GB Windows partition. I use the Mac side for real work and the Windows side for games and similar things, minimising my security problems. So I suggest getting a top of the line MBP and install Vista on a Windows partition. You should be good to go.

Im running a 32 Bit Vista Ultimate and even the DOS games run better than in Xp. 64 Bit Vista is very fiddly when it comes to find drivers and such. But im assuming that by the time AE is released provision for 64 Bit machines will be in place.

Video cards have always been rather irrelevant with WitP, but you need to plug in a lot of RAM; that's where the bottleneck is.

Hugh,
Just bought a Dell D830 Business laptop from the Refurbished Outlet.  Has Vista Ultimate and Windows XP installed, also 2GB of Ram.  WITP runs great.  Haven't had any errors.

The only increased requirement for AE is RAM.  The video requirements are identical to the original game.

One play tester was able to get AE to work with 512MB of RAM, but generally 1 GB is the minimum to have room for the game, the operating system, and the various other things that are usually in RAM.
