A History of the Great War

Germany and Austro-Hungary, aka the CP have declared war on the peaceable Triple Entente.
The Western Front, save for some desultory artillery fire, reamains quiescent. The enemy, seized by a
fit of anti-Tsarist sentiment, drives deeply East. Polish peasants stare in wonder at the fleeing Russian
armies. By October 1914, the Russians are well-confounded.

March 1915. Serbia has surrendered. The hard-pressed Russians attempt to make a stand.
The Western snoozekrieg continues.

So who is playing whom?
Looking forward to your AAR – have been a bit distressed that there have been so few lately.

I have not discussed an AAR with my opponent, so I will keep him anonymous.  He can tell his side if he chooses.  As Churchill said, history will be kind to me, for I intend to write it.
Really  I'm just trying to drum up interest in the game.

May 1915. The center does not hold. Counterattacks in the south gain ground.

May 1915. Overcome by pasta-cravings, the CP invade Italy.
The Italians fail to burnish their martial reputation.

Simultaneously, the Triple Entente, to better ensure the sovereignty of the Beneluxes, declares war on Belgium, Holland, and Luxembourg.   The entire adult manhood of Holland is slaughtered in a day.

The Kaisers Huns, feeling at home in the steppes, rampage freely.

The hapless Italians, Sept 1915.

While the Allies press on.

November 1915. The enemy responds.

March 1916. Foreigners stomp all over Holy Russia.

Oh his opponent? That would be me. Here's my recap of the events:

I went for an east first strategy and was able to finish off Serbia quite quickly. Also my advance into Russia went well. I got all of Poland and it wasn't until Riga that resistance stiffened. I got pretty much all I wanted, except for the south where most of the Russians were staying. Also I took a lot of ground just by cavalry and got deep into Russian territorities. But every now and then heavy fighting errupted in the east. But Russia should not be able to recover.
Meanwhile the Turks took Egypt and a brand new Austrian Fleet took India! I have been controlling the Eastern Med for some time now and there was a successful 2 turn period when German merchants got me some food from the Atlantic.
When Italy declared war they were smashed by the CP troops.

So far so good. There are a few things that aren't going well:

Italy should have surrendered already. I have multiple town occupied and crushed their army. I don't know why they are still going. I really don't.
Russia seems to be still stronger than I estimated. They re-took a barely guarded Minsk and tried to encirlce some troops. I also have some Russian troops encircled.

Now for my big mistake: I completely underestimated the power of the Allied offensive through Belgium and Holland. Upon the DOW I could not sent reeinforcements because the game doesn't allow me to rail into these areas. I tried a counteroffensive in the south, I took Verdun and some, but he just kept marching. I have a bunch of troops in Belgium, well actually enough to stop him, but he cut them off off supply so I cannot activate them and that means they will starve to death and that will be my end. (Why doen't Liege provide more supply?)
I've never seen any western offensive that strong. Well done. I thought I had everything under control, Italy, the East, the Med, even the Atlantic.... I was wrong.

Italy has fallen. They were at zero morale the previous turn, I think it took just one more casualty.

The Tsar clings to his throne, but both he and his cousin Willy are looking at travel brochures.

Mar 1916, significant German formations are encircled.

The sad part about this is: Before you broke through Luxemburg I was close to cut off all your troops off supply by cutting the line to Rotterdam. Damn.

"Sad"? What a baffling attitude to take towards the Poilus' glorious feat of arms.

Some miscellaneous notes:

The TE has spent nothing on diplomacy, while the CP has sent flowers and champagne to everybody (with good effect).

TE tech spending has been near max every turn with so-so results.

France and Britain bought a few submarines; whether they've been anything more than a minor nuisance, boogada could tell more than I. Right now I regret the expense.

Things don't look too good for the CP in the west. Any chance that Russia will give up soon?

Russia is certainly vulnerable to revolution. If it should come, the Kerensky government can count on a steady diet of good news, though not bread. As you can see, Germany's wounds are mortal.

I'm done. This looks like a WWII Blitzkrieg defeat. Patton cannot have done this any better. Tons of encircled troops and a very fast moving ET.
The ET has all those HQ points from the beginning and if they never use em, those are a real threat.
