Is their some sort of 'default' AI in the game?

Post by RTB74 »

Hello all,

Pardon if this has been asked before (I'm sure it has!), but the search function doesn't like me.

Just messing around, I sparked up the 'Global Conflict' scenario, and had both sides as computer. I assumed it would just sit there, since the scenario is marked PBEM, but the Russians started doing stuff.

Is there some sort of default AI that takes over if no 'orders' are programmed into the scenario? This looks like a scenario I'd like to play, but only if the AI will actually make an effort. (And it doesn't have to be much of an effort; I'm not very good. [:)])

In those scenarios marked PBEM only the scenario designer haven't programmed specifical path or instructions for the AI. So the computer basically doesn't know how to play in order to win the game. Anyway the AI will do some moves but I think that in this way the only thing that will do is trying to protect his own unit without having a plan.
So I will suggest you toplay agaist the PO only those scenarios that have been specifically designed for that.
If you don't like PBEM games you may consider to play both sides in a hotseat game.

Sorry, but no default AI. In scenarios marked as PBEM only, the computer opponent generally has very limited knowledge as to what to do. So it ends up doing strange things, like milling about in one area, or mass migrating to another. He will do something, but he can't be counted on to put up a good fight.
