question regarding harbor size

Post by sven6345789 »

In AE, Harbors will have limited size.
question 1: what size will harbors like Hiroshima/Kure, Osaka, Tokyo, Truk, Ulithi, Rabaul and Pearl Harbor have?
question 2: how is the amount of space a ship needs calculated? is its tonnage substracted from the total available?
question 3: will the majority of the IJN still fit into Hiroshima/Kure ? (The Anchorage was huge); how about the merchant ships (I normally collect most of them in Osaka at start to have centralized access to them. how much will fit into Osaka in AE?)?
Bougainville, November 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9. It rained today.

I'll answer 2 and 3 at the moment. The other stuff will have to wait.

The docking limit comes into play in three different cases:

- When you want to load a TF.

- When you want to replenish a TF from the port.

- When you want to repair it, and not make do with its own crew or a repair ship.

All these requires a ship to actually be tied to the harbour itself, and that space is finite, which means that the sum of tonnage of the whole TF gets compared to the remaining capacity of the harbour to see if it's possible for everyone to dock.

Nothing keeps you from putting plenty of ships into a given harbour, but you'll have to juggle them around to prioritize who gets to unload, replenish and/or repair first, and therefore moved from the anchorage to the port itself.

Sounds like micro-management hell.

But if you are a typical WITP player, you bloody well can't wait!

In AE, Harbors will have limited size.
question 1: what size will harbors like Hiroshima/Kure, Osaka, Tokyo, Truk, Ulithi, Rabaul and Pearl Harbor have?

I can answer this part:

Hiroshima/Kure: 9(9)
Osaka/Kyoto: 10(7)
Tokyo: 10(9)
Truk: 6(4)
Ulithi: 3(3)
Rabaul: 3(5)
Pearl Harbor: 7(5)

BTW Japan has some other large ports:

Fukuoka: 10(7)
Kobe: 10(9)
Nagoya: 9(9)
Yokohama/Yokosuka: 8(7)

Also, some things such as load/unload rates also depend on things other than port size, such as the amount of naval support present.

Andrew, can you tell us if the rate of building ports and bases has changed in AE from what it was in WITP?
