World War III - East vs West

Post by Grymme »

There seem to be some interest in starting up a second game on the World War III scenario.

The scenario can be seen in the World War III -project thread and can be downloaded from the scenariobank

This is a scenario in testing. However we have played it one time already and there doesnt seem to be any gamebreaking bugs. Players who particiopate shoule be communicative, able to play their turn in 48 hrs (or less) and willing to discuss the scenario on the forum and/or participate in a common AAR.

The playable regimes are:

European NATO alliance
USSR with the Warsaw pact
Peoples democratic republic of China &
USA.

Sounds interesting. So, if still someone is needed, I would like to participate. I would take any slot possible, no preference.

Seems like we have a game boys (& girls)

Everyone have declared they could play any power. So... anything is up for grabs. First come first served. Ill play the power remaining after the others are chosen.

I hope that you people who play will be able to participate at least a little bit in an common AAR also, to promote the scenario.

Actually. I will put in Widell instead of me in this game since i offered him to join the game before. Ill certainly be up for it if there is interest in a third game. I know Grumpymel is interested atleast.

So for this game we have

Rufusthefirefly -
Widell -
Barthead & -
Ccr. -

As of before youll have to suggest sides yourselves. All sides are interesting to play but USA & China play a little more slowly (if you like that kind of thing :) )

Ok, I was the last one to come, so I should wait for others to decide, what they want. But I dont like situations when everyone says "I take whatever remains, all will be ok". So, to make clear appointments, here is my order of preference:
NATO, USA, SovietUnion and Warshaw Pact, China

Grymme,

If you have enough to start a 3rd game I'm definately up for it.

My preference would be: USA, NATO, PACT, CHINA in that order.

BTW,  I'll be interested to see what happens with you guys in the 2nd Game. I'm playing NATO in our first test game and we're about 9 turns in... so if anyone from game 2 wants to kick around some strategy ideas...feel free to PM me.... the scenerio is a blast...but can have some very tense moments.

Just fixed a small bug pertaining to the various peoples (european & chinese peoples couldnt build special units) so you should download latest versions before playing.

As I have no experience of this scenario perhaps I should play PDRC.
In the briefing it suggests one should have WAW. I have waw v32 & v32a - does it matter what versions I have downloaded? I only say this as after I downloaded the scenario (WWIIIv54) my pc couldn't find the graphics for the B17 & B52 - does this really matter?
Thanks

Hi

PDRC is a good choice. I actually think they are kind of cool. Small land wars in Korea, Burma & Malaysia. Possbility for major naval action fighting for Taiwan, Japan & Pacific countries.

It shouldnt matter which version of WAW you have. The scenario uses some of the pictures from the WAW scenario and i have been to lazy to transfer all of them. So thats why you would need WAW. Will fix this eventually.

Hmm... the B17 missing picture shouldnt affect the gameplay. Especially if you are playing PDRC who doesnt have the stealth bombers. I wonder whats the issue though. Well se if others have the same issue. Do you get one or two missing picture errors?

So that leaves the USSR for Widell. Rustyfirefly could start the game of. You should transfer emails to eachother and ill leavy you now. But i would be very happy if you could report bugs to me, also generall comments on the scenario (and an AAR to promote the scenario would be great).

I have no experience of this scenario either, and if I understand, I'll play USSR. Since we all seem to be sharing backgrounds I'll admit to being an engineer who is stuck in the Powerpoint zone since many years back...

WWIII game 2 startet

Post by RufusTFirefly »

@ Barthheart:  [X(], hey, if you dont support me, I will put some large taxes on cheeseburgers and coke.

@Ccr: Have had the same problem. You need WaW V33d. It includes the jpgs of B52 and so on.

Ok, guys, NATO has launched its first attack. [8D]

So USSR is next to do its turn. Then China is next and USA the last one. Widell (USSR), could you please send your mail adress by PM here?

Have used latest download of WWIII-v54 and WaW-v33d (made it today, sep 15th at 21:00 pm, so it should already include the latest bug fix).

Oh, just forgot: Well, I am a chemist, working at a scanning electron microcope. So, I keep an eye on details, but sometimes miss the overview. [;)]
