AI for MWIF - Argentina
Argentina setup AI
Argentina Forces
2-5 CAV, 4-3 INF 1940, RES 3-2 MIL, 7 Naval units, 1 CP
Argentina has four basic setups:
* Capital defence: Is just as the name suggests a setup where the Argentine
land units are setup to defend Buenos Aires.
* Rosario defence: Is just as the name suggests a setup where the Argentine
land units are setup to defend Rosario the goal is to block a quick land advance toward the capital.
* Invasion defence: Both Buenos Aires and Mar del Plata is defended to make it more difficult for the attacker to find a undefended port close to the capital.
* Oil well defence: One Argentine land unit is setup on the oil well to stop a quick capture of the resource and if possible blow it up.
Argentina has one extreme setup:
* Marauder defence: Is just as the name suggests a setup where the one of the Argentine units is set up to raise mayhem before Argentina is beaten. The List of targets is: Chile, Bolivia.
Declaration of war
Given a US/CW/FR declaration of war and GE/JP control of Argentina OR a GE/IT/JP declaration of war with and US/CW control of Argentina the suggested reasoning for the AI could be as below.
Threats to guard against:
* Threat of paradrop on/close to Buenos Aires
* Threat of invasion on/close to Buenos Aires
* Threat of enemy land units passing though Uruguay
* Threat of enemy land units entering Argentina from Basil
* Threat of MAR Walk over from Uruguay
Good hopes:
* Chance of intervention from controlling power
* Chance to try to conquer Chile
* Chance to try to conquer Bolivia
* Chance to blow up oil well before enemy reach capital
* Chance to try to step on facedown allied unit(s)
* Chance to try to step on facedown axis unit(s)
Threat of paradrop on/close to Buenos Aires
IF the Weather is Storm or Blizzard the no risk of paradrop
IF any of the countries at war has a:
Organized ATR AND
it’s in supply or can be put in supply AND
the ATR has range to Buenos Aires/ within three hex from the capital or can be put in range of it by naval transport AND
there is a organized PARA AND
it’s in supply or can be put in supply AND
the PARA has range to ATR or can be put in range of it AND
the PARA and the ATR belongs to countries that can cooperate AND
the chance of a successful paradrop is > 20 %
THEN
Threat of paradrop on/close to Buenos Aires
Threat of enemy land units entering Argentina from Basil
IF any of the countries at war has
A organized LandUnit AND
it’s in Basil AND
it can reach a hex in Argentina in one impulses AND
it’s not blocked by ZOC.
THEN
Threat of enemy land units entering Argentina from Basil
Threat of enemy land units passing though Uruguay
IF any of the countries at war has
A organized LandUnit AND
it can reach a hex in Argentina in one impulses by passing trough Uruguay AND
it’s not blocked by ZOC AND
Uruguay is at war with the country controlling the unit or Uruguay is conquered by the country controlling the unit
THEN
Threat of enemy land units passing though Uruguay
Threat of MAR Walk over from Uruguay
IF any of the countries at war has
A organized MAR AND
it’s in Uruguay AND
It has range to Buenos Aires/La Plata or Swamp NW of Buenos Aires (38,47)
THEN
Threat of MAR Walk over from Uruguay
Threat of invasion on/close to Buenos Aires
IF the Weather is not Fine or Rain then there is no risk of invasion
IF any of the countries at war has a:
Organized TRS/AMPH/SCS AND one of A or B
A)
it’s in supply or can be put in supply AND
it has range to River Plate AND
there is a organized LandUnit AND

the LandUnit and the transporting unit can cooperate AND
the transporting unit can transport the LandUnit AND
the LandUnit can invade from the transporting unit AND
the LandUnit is on a costal hex in the River Plate OR stack with the transporting unit
the chance of a successful invasion is > 20 %
B)
It’s in the River Plate the AND
there is a organized LandUnit stack with the transporting unit AND
the LandUnit can invade from the transporting unit
the chance of a successful invasion is > 20 %
THEN
Threat of invasion on/close to Buenos Aires
Chance to blow up oil well before enemy reach capital
IF Threat of paradrop on/close to Buenos Aires OR Threat of invasion on/close to Buenos Aires OR Threat of MAR Walk over from Uruguay AND YEAR <1941 then no chance to blow up oil well before enemy reach capital
ELSE IF A or B
A)
The expected number of enemy impulse left in the turn < the number of impulse needed for
a attacking unit to reach the capital
B )
YEAR >=1941 AND
When the emery reach the capital the expected odds is at most 3-1
THEN
Chance to blow up oil well before enemy reach capital

RE: AI for MWIF - Argentina
Argentina could come into the war via a silly Allied player wanting, say the oil in Colombia and forgetting this lets the Axis align Argentina. In that case there might not be any direct Allied threat to Argentina (no lift within range, and perhaps none on the horizon for a little while) and you might want the Argentines to invade a previously aligned Brazil. They'd have to take Uruguay before their RES MIL showed up in that case. Hard to tell what possibilities would exist without looking at a bigger bit of the new South American map. Maybe Argentina came in after a greedy US attacked Chile or Peru (with Chile next...Argentina takes a port, and the Japanese land a throw-away unit...) and Argentinian reinforcements could ride in.... Maybe all this is happening after a strange game, like a conquered UK has the Axis on the loose somewhat...
I would still consider separate logic trees for countries aligned voluntarily by one side, which will generally feature a totally different situation than these purely defensive set-ups.
And the Argentine navy has maybe more Marauding possibilities than their tiny army, with access to it's own oil...or maybe it should sail immediately to reach any Japanese ports possibly in range??? (Don't know how their ports and sea boundaries might work now.)

If I got it right these setups will only be used if the minor country is declared war on. If the country is aligned I think it is the same routine that put up reinforcements that will be used.
