Are you able to ALT-TAB out of the game?

This was a feature sadly missing in my initial purchase of one of the SSG games where ALT-TAB crashed the game, thereby not allowing reading the manual for reference whilst playing.

Take the plunge.  IMHO, as a player of KP/BiN/BF, I find the AO feature has improved the AI performance substantially.  You get several variants to choose from which increases the variety of plans the AI will play through by 10 or 11 variants (going from memory).  The AO's seem to focus the AI on specific goals that you have to contend with.

The only drawback of K:DotD is that all those variants are played on the same map.  That can get monotonous for some players but other (like me) don't mind playing through the same battle several times.  I've played through so many games of TAO via SSG games, HPS, TOAW, etc. its scary.  But I enjoy learning all the intricacies and possible outcomes of the critical battles of WWII. ... that's just me

Personally, I don't thing the AO's have a place in PBEM.  Its just my opinion of course but in a PBEM game you don't need any more restrictions beyond the map edge constraints when playing against a human opponent.  But i could be wrong. ... I've not played a PBEM game with K:DotD yet (with AO's on).

I chose to jump on this game because I felt they had addressed some issues I had with the KP/BiN/BiI series plus they added some improvements made with BF.  Plus I jumped on the bandwagon when the SSG guys said they were committed to this engine and would be producing "Battle Packs" for K:DotD.  Even though I have to pay more $'s for more SSG produced scenarios, I felt the future was good for this game.

All I see when I look at the map is 2 lines of units in a slugfest and the one with the bigger hammer wins.

How is it different from how I see the layout of this map and battle? It was the same with Korun Pocket....great big line of two sides...very little in the way of "tactical" movement...couldn't go round this hill and flank because there was a wall of units.

Judge I think yer trying too hard not to like it. It isn't a tactical game, it's an operational game.

Both of those very solid looking lines can easily be smahsed and penetrated by either side.

The game is very, very fluid.

Having said all that, (yes there are aspects of the game I DO like, in spite of what some on this forum may think), I haven't been back to try a second game after soundly defeating teh AI in my first. Mostly, that is because of other gaming committments and a lck of free time to play around with "new" games.

I'm surprised at your views here Judge, I've played KP on PBEM loads of times and found lots of variation in the lines of attack and manouevre (although against a very good Fritz player it can be difficult I'll agree). I'm begging SSG to make this in the style of KDotD as I think the AO will be a big advantage here, as the Fritz player can't take all his units and stack them in long lines, some have to remain where they were told to at the time.
