Changing playbooks

Post by simmer »

If my team is getting blown out, and I change to another playbook for the next half, will the game acknowledge it?

I think David said yes to this, I remember asking him...or somebody did. But I do remember this conversation.

I'm almost positive, that regardless of whether a game is started fresh or from a save, it will use the playbook that is currently assigned...so if you save at half and change, it should use the new one.

I dont use it much either. I will admit to grabbing the Gravis and playing some Madden, I will eventually start a Madden08 franchise and control the team arcade style. But with MaxFB, I either watch or call plays. More satisfying to play as a coach, but the arcade in Madden has its pluses.

This does beg the question: would a football team change its playbook during halftime?

No, that would never happen.

Not to mention, when a team signs a player, the very next day he all of a sudden knows every play in the playbook, whether its 4 plays or 400 plays

Take it easy on me guys I'm just learning this game. I have over 100 teams in the NCAA, I have to make some of the powerhouse top 25 teams win and not lose to Division II teams. Right?

Would be nice to have a built in handicap for that in the game.

Some leagues do this.  With FBPro, the player could be given a short injury to reflect this.  I suspect that could be done with Maximum Football as well.

Simmer, play the game however you see fit. I refuse to play MaxFB by any set of rules other than my own. If I wanted to play by someone elses rules, I would play Madden.

Like that one time when I had I-AA Yale upset #2 Tennessee in NCAA 2005.

Too bad MFB doesn't quite get the whole "powerhouse/prestige" thingy of the NCAA. As it is, something like my above incident could be commonplace once I get my NCAA season fully underway

One can do this by setting up draft profiles for Division II teams in a poor way (selecting off skills for QB's ...). One can set up a group of powerhouse profiles, standard profiles, lesser profiles, and duds.  Then just draft.

I like that idea. Sounds like a way to solve a problem I've been grappling with. It does pay to browse the forum!
