How is the Passing Rating calculated ?

It would be nice to know the (or an) official formula. Is there a difference between the NFL, College, CFL or any other league ? Are these formulas also known ? Are these forumlas changed in the past ?

Thanks. I have now the formulas - only the CFL is open.

Are Yards calculated differently in the NFL or CFL (i assume that yards lost by sacks are deducted ?).

CFL uses the same formula as the NFL.

In the CFL, lost yards are a separate category and are kept separate from the passing and rushing statistics.

Example: a QB throws two passes, one a 50 yard bomb and one swing pass that loses two yards.

In the NFL, he's credited with with 48 yards passing. In the CFL, he still has 50 yards passing, and the team accrues a loss of two yards on the second play.
