3.9.4.X Beta Testing

Post by Anonymous »

Since the second thread has been locked, I´ll start a new one for test reports about the latest beta. No surrender! [:)]

I hope that everyone got the message now so this thread will not share the fate of the others. Otherwise it makes no sense to continue with public beta testing. There will be one loser - the sim. I don´t think anyone here intends that.

My findings so far as to beta 3.9.4.6:

1. Unarmed hostile units are attacked now - good
2. Missiles do launch when aircraft are ordered to do so - good
3. Ships do automatically launch TLAMs at land targets while on transit mission - good

4. Runways can be destroyed - and not only with nukes, it looks like. I don´t think this i good. This one was heavily discussed earlier and I think the solution to make runways indestructible for conventional warheads is best - it is a matter of time to repair them.
5. Please do not distribute betas with installers so that they overwrite the latest release files. If they expire Harpoon is dead and guys have to reinstall the latest release. Please name the beta exes with their version number .

Can you elaborate?
What kind of weapons are hitting them?
Which database are you using?
How many weapons?
Are they simultaneous detonation or sequential?
What is the size of runway?

I think that there was even an instance in H3 where runways could be destroyed, but it was an extreme. If you hit it with enough big weapons simultaneously, I think that they could be destroyed, too. I guess it was like a nuke going off and overloading the damage. It was a very, very rare occurrence in H3, IIRC. I don't suppose that it is the same situation in ANW. [:(]

Yes, I´ll try as good as I recall:

Kind of weapons: TLAMs

Database: Standard Database and PDB

How many: Difficult to tell. They were all launched by a VLS Spruance and separated in groups, one for each Soviet base. Maybe half a dozen.

Detonation: Sequential, but only few seconds between the impacts

Runway size: If I remember correctly, it was 8k

The 6 nukes hat done their work earlier, I´m pretty sure. Maybe I retest it.

Hope that helps.

Yup.  Thanks.  Always good to know which things to double-check when the patch is officially released.
