Italy surrender question

Post by Vasquez »

After italy surendered my Austrian and german forces were put back into their homeland.

One strat phase later france moved into italy again and I have to move back into italy by scratch by using activation points, what takes some time and OP points. Is this supposed to be this way?

I had the same thing happening to me. Actually I let the French move in leaving them vulnerable in France itself (no reserves). No contest till they reached the Alps and annexed area.

What I'm not certain about is if the French actually use the industry and resources that they take over in Italy.

It's certainly gamey to re-invade a conquered country.  After all, what are those garrison troops supposed to be doing?   This is a matter for the designer.

Exactly. At least if conquered territory is re-invaded, the garrison troops should be made available again.

BTW is conquered Italy garrisoned by CP troops? And are they German or AH?

Never seen Italy surrender but when Austria did the Germans did not even get moved out of the country. Austria surrendered but the war kept right on going with the Russians and Germans in the same spot.

When Italy surrenders, CP and Etente units get thrown out. But I didn't take note if CP forces remain garrisoning Italy. At first glance the CP don't garrison Italy (all Germans were either thrown out or returned in 5 turns or so) but I didn't follow the AH coz I had a jumble of units there.

I had only 3 AH korps in italy before they surrendered and they moved all back to austria. About the german troops Iam not sure if some of them remained in italy as occupation force since russia and italy surrendered in the same turn. Therefore I had lost the overview a bit.

I pushed the entente back to the french/italian border now but doubt I can launch sucessfull attacks there since US troops are stacked there in the mountains now.

Now (spring 1917) Ive launched the schlieffen plan but its hard stuff [:)]

A very good game =)

This game engine would fit great to a napoleonic game imo. Any plans for that?

France should not be able to re-enter a CP conquered Italy, I will look into this.

Come to think of it, this has happened to me (using 1.2.3 beta patch until the naval game issues in the 1.2.4 one are addressed) too. Didn't bother me, though. Surrender usually involves free passage for the victor and paying points to enter makes sense to me since conquered is not the same as friendly. I just assumed France declared war on the already beaten Italy when they entered in force.
