ALL AMERICAN FOOTBALL CONFERENCE

Post by DONMVP »

As some might remember a while back , i had made 1920 nfl teams and 1946 allamerican football conference teams . Uniforms came out good but had problems everytime i would try and play a game with them . Some players had different long sleves or no hands at all . Well spent all day working on them still get same prob, so not sure if its my comp or what . Anyway going to go ahead and download them at fbmax . So others might enjoy them . Myself might play the teams with no long sleve . Anyway heres a pic of all american conference , which had 49ers , browns , colts .

Nice stuff, Don.

It would be nice if we could figure out what is causing the texture problems.

By the way, you have two player on the same team with the number 61; isn't that a problem in the roster?

Well 2 things that can be sorted straight away and without much trouble

you have missing face textures, the numbers in your DB need to be matched up with textures
even if you just duplicate a face then give it the correct number........ that would sort that

and the missing hand textures
the game attempts to match hands to skin textures
so if you use S2 the game automatically looks for hand texture H2

match up some hand textures to your sleeve/arm textures.

the other problems, I dont have answers for
I've never been able to find the time to attempt to replicate it in order to try find a fix
maybe email me just the arm textures and I'll run them through my test league, see if I can help at all.......... no promises I can though [8|]

Mykal is correct. I did this a while back. Its a bit tedious, but you basically are creating an entirely new set of everything for the new look.

As you will note above, all my players were white. No, not because i'm a Klansman..although I am of Scottish decent, so 'Clansman' would be appropriate. But, it was easier to create one color first, assign it to all. Then go back in and assign the darker colors. I based it on the percentages at the time, or what I could find out about it.
And everyone had the single bar facemask.

I havent done this in a while though. I may try again later today, see if I have any problems like Don has.

Nice screen shots, Gary.

Mykal, I wonder if Don wasn't matching his texture numbers up.  Perhaps I should not have assumed this was being done.

Here is my commons folder. Im not sure but I dont think you need the faces other than the ones that are included, but I made them just the same. I still have to make images of the other skin colors.

In your leagues database, when you set the skin tone for each player, it will automatically look for the hands, but you likely have to set face image manually, because David made it this way so we could use custom faces for individual players.

All of my players on the Canton team have Skintone set to 5, so the game loads s5.skin.bmp, and then will automatically select h5.hand.bmp.
When you add a player to your roster, you will have to go into the database and set him also.

thats exactly right Gary

hands are matched automatically but faces arnt
although Ive always found it less confusing to duplicate the faces anyway so you have a face for every skin and hand
just makes editing the DB easier eg. S8 & H8 go with F8

Gary I went ahead and did what you guys suggested .Using your common files as an example . I have 14 skins 1 to 14 first 4 our skin the others sleves and 14 faces and 14 hands . So far i put 2 teams into a new league i`m setting up , balt and brooklynn, .When i look at a player in league screen i see uniform with faces and sleves . But when i play game in quick play , i see regular skin on arms , but faces and hands look ok . Any ideal what i can do next.

I tried   one thing i took out  the skin and hands and  face  textures  for the first 4   like skin 1  to skin 4 , after that  ran game in quickplay got all white arms and  hands and face., so went back to  the common  folder i  made .

I really dont know what to say. if all steps are followed, it should work. Not sure why it would work for one persons game and not the other.
Here is what I did for Canton:
1 - I created textures for arm (s5.skin.bmp)/face (f5.face.bmp)/hand (h5.hand.bmp) all of the corresponding number
2 - I open the league database and changed the skintone for all players on Canton to 5, and faceimage to 5

Thats it. The game loads the hands automatically. And honestly, like I said earlier, im not 100% sure the face is necessary. probably not.

All i can suggest is to open the database and make sure the changes to your players took place, otherwise, I have no idea

One thing to check is to make sure the bmp files you make are the same type as the ones in game.

Make sure they are not the wrong bit, I guess. maybe the game needs a certain type.

24 bit, or 32 bit, or whatever.
I know that in stadiums, if the images are of the wrong compression, they show white.

I'm not sure that makes any differance for the skin texture Gary,
I've done extra skin textures from scratch without problems and never paid any attention to what bit rate they were.

I actually know exactly what the problem is now.
I've seen this myself it only ever happens with quick play games.

Lets see if I can find a way to explain it

there seems to be some kinda glitch in the games temp memory
if you set up a league and then try to play in quick play before having played a game with each team in league play
the game seems to revert back to some kind of generic engine because it hasnt mapped to memory your actual league players yet,
it ignores quite a bit of stuff, I've never seen the sleeve issue but then I've never used sleeves in that way
but I have seen it ignore my depth chart and use generic players that or not part of my roster mixed in with some that are
especially noticable on kick off and punt coverage, when you see duplicated numbers (like 2 number 80's when I know I only have one)
and it saying CM on a players back (which I think is one of abbreviations used for coverage by the game).

Once you've used the team in quick play before having used a team in league play
it maps that to memory instead of the actual team from league play
sometimes totally, sometimes partly, so you sometimes get a mix of actual players mixed with generic ones.
when ever the game creates generic players, it obviously use no sleeve, hence the bare arms.

Don seems to be having that exact same trouble.

Hope Ive explained this well enough to be understood, I know what I mean
but putting into type is a little tricky
