Indoor Football League - IFL

Post by DAWUSS »

Well, I needed an outlet for some of the fantasy teams that I downloaded along with some of the prepackaged teams. And since I have "American" (NFL-NCAA) and "Canadian" (CFL-CIS) covered, I decided to use "Indoor" as the basis for this ruleset. While this is "season 1" in MFB terms, I don't quite consider this to be "season 1" in the IFL, as this allows for preexisting rivalries and storylines.

East Division:

Columbus Marauders
Baltimore Wolves
South Carolina Knights
Staunton Hawks
Philadelphia Firebirds
Nashville BigCats
Orlando Demons

West Division:

Minnesota Warriors
Detroit Rhinos
Los Angeles Golden Bolts
Montana Maulers
Austin Texans
Indianapolis Lions
San Jose Stingrays

The Firebirds, Demons, and Stingrays are the prepackaged teams with no modifications (Firebirds got their stadium and playbook changed but no names were changed). The Warriors, Marauders, Knights, and Golden Bolts are prepackaged teams with new locations and some new names (Based from Milwaukee, Toronto, Regina, and Winnipeg), and the rest were downloaded teams (whose logos and jerseys are most likely going to change as time progresses).

Some of the preexisting rivalries:

South Carolina - Los Angeles (the biggest and most heated rivalry in the IFL)
Minnesota - Montana
Indianapolis - Nashville
Nashville - Orlando
San Jose - Los Angeles
Staunton - Baltimore

And as for the schedule, here's Week 1:

Montana at Detroit
Orlando at Baltimore
Indianapolis at Minnesota
Austin at Staunton
South Carolina at Los Angeles
San Jose at Nashville
Columbus at Philadelphia

I might - it'd be a good chance for me to get back into HTML and get some mileage again out of my inactive but still existing website (depending on how much I wanna' develop it)

I could see an Orlando/South Carolina rivalry developing down the road maybe. Kind of a strange southern thing that goes on between Florida cities and the 'real' southern states :-)

Yeah, I think a few more rivalries will develop as the seasons progress.

Configuring bye weeks are a mess, though (13 opponents, 14 weeks), as having one opponent twice seems kind of awkward (excluding postseason).

As for the website stuff, I just need to come up with a league logo and then I can start getting up and running with that.
