Screen Resolution(s)?

Post by Prince of Eckmühl »

There's something going on with some of the scenarios that I don't understand. I know that the different panels display at 1024x768x16, but in-game the resolution can be upped to other, higher, resolutions. Well, I've been playing at 1920x1200, and the game plays fine at that resolution (although stuff is awfully small). However, some of the scenarios aren't running at the intended setting, and appear to be reverting to 1024x768, instead. Specifically, if I fire up the Champlon, Assensois or Clervaux battles, they run at the lower resolution. I'm running the patched version of the game, BTW. If this information is cited somewhere in the documentation, forgive me.

I don't think it is mentioned in the manual but for any maps where there is less pixels in either the x or y than your screen resolution (1920x1200) the game will lower the resolution. Not sure if it was all older versions of CC but some of them at least in the past would just crash when this happened....

Yes earlier versions displayed the Error message "Rectangle Provided is invalid" and crashed the game.

Smaller maps are now dynamically resolved to fit your screen without crashing the game.

This had become, I guess, more of an issue with the rush to larger monitors over the last few years.

I never had a problem on my 15" CRT
