The defeat of the Ottoman Empire - Palestine & arabian peninsula campaign in WWI
This scenario depicts the struggle between the Ottoman Empire and the Great British Empire during the first world war. The scenario starts in the spring of 1915. Each turn is 3 months long and the game ends at the end of 1918.
All units in game are historical or as close to historical as can be made. The scenario is based upon a boardgame from where all stats, the map, units and so on is fetched.
Special Events
During the summer of 1916 the arab rebellion occurs which activates the arab revolt regime for the British Empire player.
During certain turns reinforcement units are placed in Damascus, Cairo, Amman or certain other places. Also continuous replacements are placed in RailHQs in Cairo & Damascus.
Victoryconditions
Britain starts with 5 VPs and the Ottoman Empire with 32 VPs. The scenario is 16 turns long and during the last turn the player with most VPs is the winner.
Damascus is worth 5 VPs.
Jerusalem and Medina 3 VPs.
Caira, Aquaba, Amman & Dera 2 VPs.
Yenbo, Abd el Naam, Mudharij, Ala, Meda In Salith, Tabuk, Maan, Wejh, Tyre, Haifa, Jaffa, Gaza, Bersheba, El Arish, Quantara, Suez, Ismailita, Port Said & Sharm El Sheik 1 VP each.
Peoples
Arab Formations fight with 80 % efficiency when facing british units.
Turk Formations fight with 90 % efficiency towards british units.
Indian formations fight with 90 % efficiency towards turk units and 80 % efficiency towards german units.
New Units
Cavalry - Fights like infantry. Stronger on attack in plains, weaker in tough terrain. Faster.
Camel Cavalry - Same as cavalry but even faster.
Armoured Trains - Armoured cars but only move on rail
Early Tank - Like light tank but less mobile
Trains - Provides landcap.
Storm Infantry - Like mortars but a little weaker and doesnt fight like rear units.
Certain special leaders are similar to StaffIV (Murray, Allenby, Lawrence of Arabia, Faisal, Kemal Pascha & Liman von Sanders)
Production & Research
No unit production in the scenario. Each side recieves reinforcements on certain turns. Each power also recieves some replacements in HQs of Cairo, Damascus, Mecca and northern Arab HQ.
No research in scenario.
Cairo, Zagazig, Medina and Damascus are sorces of Supply. Also 2 hexes in the Arabian desert provide reinforcements for the arab rebellion.

Looks nice, even if the Boardgame mod is not my favourite look. Great work Grymme!
RE: The defeat of the Ottoman Empire - Palestine & arabian peninsula campaign in WWI
Thanks Widell
Finally upploaded the scenario today. Scenario plays well with the AI. At least with AI as Ottoman Empire (since AI doesnt know how to attack concentric which is vital in scenario).
It should be fun for people who want more tactical, boardgamey scenarios.

Just fired this scenario up and I get an error "Faulty event No End Check Event = 24".
Looking at the events, 24 is labeled AI but it's contents are incomplete.

Thanks for the quick feedback. Removed the event so it should run without problems now. Can you test it again for me?

Sure. I removed that event in my copy and it starts up fine.
Other notes:
1. Are seasons supposed to be in this scenario?
2. The visability of hexes you can reach in not easy to see. I think there is a var that needs to be changed to see these hexes against the white background.

1. Seasons. I dont know. Didnt remove it. But havent tested it. Probably shouldnt be used since each year is just four turns in the scenario.
2. I dont disagree with you. I am however not a graphicly gifted person. My poor atempts to graphic modding you dont want to see
If you would like to make the changes or know someone who knows you are welcome to add them to the scenario.

OK. I can give it a try. PM me your email and I'll send any changes directly to you.
Also map labels might be clearer in a different colour... maybe yellow. Black seems blurry and hard to read to me.

Might remove the seasons options if i change anything more in the scenario. Always hesitant to remove anything though, since its much easier to remove it than to put it back .

You should be able to just remove the option button and leave the events. That way you only have to add the option button back.

It seems that a > sign instead of a = sign made the ottoman empire get certain divisions turn after turn after turn. This is fixed and new upload made. Also removed seasons button.

Scenario works better now.
Also I figured this one out.
Under Settings, select RuleVars. Then select Movementtypes & Ranges. Then select rule 306. Change teh value from .3 to .6.
This will make teh move ranges much darker and easy to see.
Hope that helps.

This is an interesting scenario. Small and quick playing. Well done. The AI ia a little weak at it even as the Ottomans though... though I have no idea how to improve that...[;)]
Grymme, do you want to try a PBEM game of this? You can choose the sides.

RE: The defeat of the Ottoman Empire - Palestine & arabian peninsula campaign in WWI
Yeah. The AI really suffers from not being able to do concentric attacks. Since this is pretty much the only way to advance in this scenario. Actually in the boardgame there is the possibility to add "optional units" that could have been sent to the theater. So i have had some thoughts about implementing an British AI or Ottoman AI gameoption advantage gameoption. However i do not know how to program such options.
Do you know how to do it? Maybe we could do a little cooperation. If you create 2 gameoptions that are filled with British Advantage and Ottoman Empire Advantage and linked to events i could program the events by myself.
Sure ill try a game. Ill take the british side cause i think they are more difficult to win with. Ill send you the first turn as soon as i can find your email. (think i have it somewhere)

Actually im not sure which is your email and the ottomans start anyhow so you could just send me an email with the first turn played to
grymme @ hotmail.com
We could use this game to evaluate balance. I think the computerscenario is one less turn long than the boardgame which might make it a little more difficult for the brits.
