Creating custom terrain

Post by delusan »

Im trying to learn modding but am having trouble with the following:
Ive managed to create my very first ustom road hex (running SW to NE), but (1) the road superimposes on the map with a white rectangle behind it, covering the map terrain, and (2) the road traverses only half the hex, i.e. from the SW hexside to the center of the hex. What am i doing wrong?
Also, how do I take screenshots to post on the forum (using Vista)?
Is there a tutorial available specifically for making new landscape types?

1. The white rectangle happens because the graphic needs to have a transparent background. You can do this using Paint Shop Pro or GIMP or some other similar graphics program. MS Paint is not able to do this. OR you can make the background of your new road "pink". AT will interpet that as background and should make it see through.

2. Raod graphics are only from one hexside to the center of the hex. You did nothing wrong. You'll need to make a graphic for each of the six hexsides.

I make screenshot by pushing the "Printscreen" button on my keyboard and then open MS Paint and pasting the image there. Should work for Vista too... I think..
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty & well preserved body,
but rather to skid in broadside, totally worn out & proclaiming "WOW, what a ride!"
