Bug port attacks(non garrisoned port), with Tr-fleet inside.

Post by bresh »

In a pbm game im in.
Spain attacked the British transport who sat transporting a corps in a ungarrisoned Portugese port(Portugal beeing GB-Free-State).
Problem is Spain only used 1 ship fleet to attack.
Game counts the port attack as beeing unsuccessfull even when the British transport fleet is captured since both did 0 ships casulties, so it gives Spain -1 pp for naval battle and GB +1 ? The British corps who where onboard went prisoners, its still undetermined where the general of the corps went ? "Not sure if back to forcepool".

EIANW Manual :
13.5.3 Using The Harbor Defenses
The major power that controls a port city (indicated in Selection Area Info window) and has a garrison there, determines use of the harbor defenses, regardless of the major power formally controlling the province or minor country in which the city is located. Port cities without garrisons may not use their harbor defenses (NOTE: The program does not allow corps to determine use of the harbor defenses

Im Austria in the game, you want my savegame ?
Why should they not be taken btw ? No garrison as quoted means no port defense.

If there was a garrison present, i would agree though. You should not be able to sail captured transports past the guns.

Or maybe the transports should just be destroyed, they should not be unattackable ?

Oh! My bad! I missed the UN in UNgarrisoned. You are correct, they should be captured.
Don't send the AU game since they wouldn't allow me to dupe the attack.
I'll have to look into the code...

Thank you

Marshall, you might also wanna check where leaders would go, if they are on a destroyed or captured fleet.
If i remember correct GB had Wellington with the Transport (but not 100% sure).

I would belive they would not die "unless rolled so", so captured, like if the corps they had where annihilated.
