M2 50 Cal Usage

Post by TR Shrum »

Does anyone know how to get ammo for the "on map" 50s? I was only able to use one 50 during the "North Base" battle; and only for two turns. The weapon began (when I manned it) with 950 rounds. After two turns I had to save the game and go do something for the wife. When I came back and reloaded the game the ammo count said "000" and was unable to fire. In every battle since that there are 50s present, all have an ammo count of "000."

I discovered that "000" can mean "1000" as I was able to fire a mg with 000.  However, I was unable to fire a machinegun right next to it (this was train map) and it's ammo said 000 as well.  So I'm wondering if the mgs are bugged, or if the fact that I actually threw a grenade into the pit damaged it.

ah man, you don't throw nades at Ma Duces, it is against the rules of common, Duceness or something like that

that 000 does sound like it might be, the game may have a 3 degit slot set up in the code, so anything higher would only be showing the last 3 numbers

From what I recall, the 000 was indeed a 1,000. Try firing it it even when on 000, it should work.

Do the mounted guns have a small angle of fire within which they can be used? I've tried using them a couple of times, but I always find that the sight turns red/black flashy, as if the target can't be seen, even if the target is right in front of the barrel and just twitching on the trigger would turn them into a mushy pulp... I'm going to have to try again.

Erik,
Every M2 that has read "000" and that I've tried to use has failed to fire.  I was only able to use one for two Player Turns, that was at the North Base.

Every one I have tried to fire has worked fine. I couldn't figure out how to fire the mortars in mine area, guessing they are non firing. They have a really low arc, and it can be a pain to get the merc to mount it, but they all fire. And man do they mess up the badies.

50 Cals

I think we just doing it wrong

arm the 50 Cal (click on it with the Hand Icon)

it will show up as your weapon now

once it is your weapon, click on the weapon Icon (like you do with a Med Kit or Nade) and you will get the 50 cal cross hair, if you have the AP, it will fire, first burst looks like it is 3 rounds, 2nd burst looks like 10 rounds, very poor field of fire though

Yes, I checked the traverse a while back and it's too narrow to be of practical use in a game -- at least the way I play.

The M2's have no defilade at all, especially the ones on the hills at the train station. Several enemy were running directly inline with the barrel even way out there and the M2 could not fire down, even at a slight angle. Don't bother using em, they're just eye candy.
