Hack's Plays v3.4.3 Released

Post by hack153 »

Click the link below my name or go to unsorted on fbmax.com.

Read the "Read Me" file that comes with the folder. It includes all the major info you need to know about this release. There have been a lot of adjustments, and additions.

This release includes 5 Coaches:
Brown
Goode
Miller
Smith
Williams

Williams was the key coach the I worked on for this release. Wilson was removed, but will be back in v3.4.4

for v3.4.4 i am working on Davis Jr. and Wilson. not sure when i will be done.

since Davis Jr. is already half-way done (def plays and profile), i figured that i could finish both together. Davis Jr. is a pass balanced offense using several 3-4 wr and ace formations. it's designed to share the rock between wr's and te.

Wilson will start from almost scratch. again it will be run-heavy offense using the QB, and HB as it primary ball handlers. you'll probably see more shotgun and 2 te formations. the gun will allow for more QB movement, and the 2 te will provide better blocking.

for v3.5.0, i will start working on an empty playbook, and create one per each release. i would like to have 8 total playbooks finished by the end of january. however, no promises.

Nope...you said January...we're holding you to that [;)]

Seriously, great stuff.

I personally like watching Coach Wilson. Lot of fun. Killed me the first time I played against it.

In my Pacifica Football League, the Lakeside Monsters use it and are 2-2.

i think Wilson will be more effective this time around. that playbook is hard to play against because i don't have too many "key on" QBs. one way to adjust that is edit the playbook of the team that Wilson is facing (change from "Key On" HB or FB, to QB). just a thought.

plus, i'm making universal formations and only naming the play after the coach. (my old system named formations after coaches.) this way, someone could edit the play, and name it after a different coach. i think this will also help me create plays faster.

I think one of the problems is is that the plays themselves are organized rather poorly, so in order to easily locate the plays you have to name them by team/coach/formation abbreviation/etc...

But now i have an additional request: would it be possible for you to save the coaches information as a word (.doc) or simple editor (.txt) file? I´m asking because i´m not able to read .wps files.

not sure what you mean here. my plays are organized poorly?

this is how my plays are organized...

1.)Coach Name 2.)R un or Pass 3.)Formation 4.)Key Player 5.)Type of Route/Run

what i am going to do is create one formation for all coaches. example: I Form, Ace4, Gun 4, etc...

then when i create a play for a coach i will name the play after the coach. i will also adjust the formation in the play to be coach specific. this way, i can "save as" and adjust the play for a different coach instead of creating the play from scratch.

No no no no no, yours are fine, I was more or less talking about MFB's organizing system

gotcha! [;)][;)][;)] sorry if i sounded defensive.

i agree that the game's play organization is less than acceptable. in fact, it blows. i've gone back and forth with ways to organize. i think this system is working the best for me right now.

also, if anyone needs the coaching guide in Word, send me a PM and i'll send it to you.

looks good. again, it would be nice to see more sacks, but i'm working on that. passing yard average seems a bit high, but i think i'll get a happy medium in the next release.

i appreciate the game log posts. it's good to see how the numbers are being played.

gary, any ideas on how to get more sacks from the play creation side of things?

Hey Hack,

Great stuff. I'm really liking some of the changes to the passing plays, I'm def seeing longer plays.

However, just to confirm, I haven't found a profile with a 1st Half, 2-min offense yet in the update. Is that one coming with the next update? That would be most excellent.

Thanks!

RE: Hack's Plays v3.4.3 Released

Post by hack153 »

i'm thinking of doing it soon but that will require that i edit every playbook.

the situations that would need to be added are the following:

1st down 2-5, 6-10, 11-15, 15+
2nd down <1, 2-5, 6-10, 11-15, 15+
3rd down <1, 2-5, 6-10, 11-15, 15+

each of those will have to be created for 1-3 minutes, :30-1 minute, <:30 seconds.

that would be a total of 42 new groups and there would be approximately 30-40 plays per group. each group would have to be moved up the group list also to ensure that it takes priority over other plays. that would be at least a two weeks worth of left clicking and right clicking. if only i could add all the plays at once!

what groups do you want to see added for a two minute drill?

i might be able to not get so detailed with yards per down and just do an "any" 1st, 2nd, and 3rd down with 1-3 minutes, :30-1 minute, <:30 seconds. that would cut it down to 9 new groups instead of 42.

i could also do six groups instead which include an "any" down, "any" yard for 1-3, :30-1, <:30, and 3rd <1 for those times also.

i don' want to sound like i'm avoiding doing this, it's just a ton of work.

can you give me an idea of what type of groups you want to see added?

thanks.

[edit] i'm going to add 6 groups to Davis Jr. and Wilson. we'll see how that goes.

groups:

3rd down <1 yard, 1st half <:30
any down, any yard, 1st half <:30,
3rd down <1 yard, 1st half :30-1,
any down, any yard, 1st half :30-1,
3rd down <1 yard, 1st half 1-3 min
any down, any yard, 1st half 1-3 min

the 3rd and <1 has to be created because my defensive schemes are not designed to face all offensive formations (ex. 0rb 0te 5wr, 1rb 0 te 4wr, 1rb 1te 3wr, etc.). the coaching guide that comes with my plays shows which offensive formations are used in 3rd <1.

these groups will be prioritized between the <1 yard,on the 2-5 yard line, and the 2-5 yards on the 2-5 yard line.

Hack, have you noticed the AI will not assign DBs to spots when you have 6 or more in a formation?
Goode 4 1 6 Dime and Goode prevent are examples where the AI leaves 1 or 2 spots open.

I have 10 DBs on the team, healthy and ready to play. But hit autofill and it leaves the spots open.

It likes to do this on return formations also, on occasion. Seems the AI struggles with KR spots.

Just wondered if you noticed.

In Roster View, the AI will always have 2 players at each DB/SA/CB
In Formation View, you will see one or two spots open if there are 6 or more DBs
In the pic below, the team has 10 DBs....hit Autofill and this is what it does.

Sometimes I wonder if the teampos.dat needs work. I had the problem with 2 spots being open on a 8man punt return, even with a 53 man roster. I changed the setup in teampos.dat and it seems to have solved it.

Of course, if no one else is seeing this problem, it is just me.

interesting.

i never use autofill. i think it's worth about as much as Enron's stock. i'm not really sure why it does the things that it does. great idea, poor results. it seems that the roster view and formation view are not on the same page.
