Premature game end ver 1.030

Post by Tempest_slith »

Joel,

The attached is a ver 1.030 release Battle Cry of Freedom (July,1861) scenario PBEM game that decided to end itself early in Sept 1863, even though both sides had 900+ political points.

The game had played normally with no observed corruption until the attached turn, in which the turn opened to the end-of-game victory screen and nothing else.

Union PW: 1515

This is the second early end report we've had in the past few weeks. Have you tried going back a turn to see if the problem repeats? It would be very helpful to get a save just before the Confederate player ends their turn where we can load it and end the turn and save it and then have the game go to the end game screen.

I made 6 attempts of loading, quickly moving and ending the Conf turn with no recurrence of the problem.

Could this be associated with remnant development code? The End-Of-Game screen shown declares the game a draw but the manual says one side or the other will always be awarded a victory.

Is a draw a legitimate outcome in WBTS?

No a draw is not a valid condition for WBTS, so there must be some contamination causing the draw result and it is bringing up an old World at War art screen which shouldn't even be in the art folder. Very strange.
