Supply or lack of

Post by robot »

Supply seems to be one of my major flaws. Bo mentions in an answer to one of my questions I should be able to produce 6 ironclads each turn up to 1862. My supply right from the start has maryland out of population right from the start. So unable to produce any there from the get go. I assume you shouldnt try to produce anything when the population is low. Minnesota never seems to be able to produce along with Missouri. West Virginia is another state that never seems to get any population. Someone mentioned to produce factories but this doesnt help if you have no people to work them. The most Ironclads in any of the games I have started was three all the way into 1862 and I think in one 4. Which means I never am able to keep up with the south and then my navy really sucks when it comes to fighting anyways.

If playing as the Union you can put six ironclads into production at New York in July 1861 they should be ready by March 1862. This will require you to disband the regular and heavy artillery that are already on the production cycle though. That's also assuming a damaged unit doesn't end up on the New York city production cycle to knock things out of whack. You're never going to produce much more than supply in Maryland or Minnesota because both states lack the population and industry types to do much more. As a matter of fact Minnesota has no factories at all to speak of so you'll never be able to build anything there. It just contributes a few population and resource points per turn. As the Union you need to build the big ticket items like heavy artillery and cruisers in states that have the population and industry types to support them For example, as of the latest patch you can only build artillery in certain cities in New England, New York, Pennsylvania, and Ohio as the Union. You can only build ironclads in New York city alone. You should put factories in low population states like Iowa, Maryland, Indiana, Missouri, and West Virgina to work mostly making supplies. Supplies are certainly needed, cost no pop points and that's what these states are ideal for. [8D]
