Mine damage

On average, what is everyone's experience on mine damage to Battleships? I have only seen US BB's (fast) hit them a couple times, usually resulting moderate (25-35%) system damage. In a past game, playing Japan, Colorado took 10 hits, and was not even smoking in a gun combat a month later. In a current game, North Carolina took 5, and is not listed has being heavily damaged.

Vs the IJN, mine damage to BBs is multiplied by nearby PT boats, esp. in harbor.
