Fantastic Game

Post by Rhizy »

Hi,

I purchased COTA last week and just cannot stop playing it! What a fantastic game - I've played board wargames (Avalon Hill range etc) and computer simulation wargames for years and don't think I've enjoyed any as much as this approach to operational warfare simulation - the plausible continuous time with order delay is just such a smart approach. Wish I knew about this series earlier. I've completed the first tutorial and a few of the recommended scenarios (Sarantaporon and Tanks at Platamon) and am now working my way through the advanced tutorial. Battles of the Bulge is definitely on my list of must purchases this year - very much looking forward to it. Is there any point in my also purchasing the earlier HTTR or would that be a step backwards from COTA and the forthcoming BOTB?

Cheers

We recently discussed HTTR and COTA at WG. I'll find you the link in a bit.

If you are enjoying COTA, you should like HTTR. There are some differences a few handy UI feature absent, but on the whole I think it would still be great fun. Also, the flavor is different in that you are dealing with heavily wooded maps as opposed to a lot of open LOS. Additionally, COTA emphasizes a lot of exit VL scenarios. HTTR didn't have any as that was a new feature. So, no running off the map. HTTR is a lot more make a stand and fight or attack! :)
